2/18/23 - A certain amount of beatings is necessary.
Mother sells all her property for 5,580,000RMB which she all donates to Buddhist temples and becomes a nun. Her daughter is forced to take out loans in order to afford uni, and now no longer wants to see her mother again. Now the mother is crying on social media and asking people to help her get in touch with her daughter.
People are complaining about AI art because it’s just “copy-pasted from other people’s art”, and blogger is explaining that although AI does indeed learn how to draw from other people’s art, it is far more complex than just copy-pasting things together. That’s why you have phenomenon where AI is bad at drawing hands—they’re not just copy-pasting hands other people have drawn.
A compilation of people describing their zero-bride-price marriages, of how they paid nothing to get their wife, and now their in-laws take care of their kids and help pull connections so they can get promotions and loan them money that they have yet to pay back.
The old man who is pictured on the 20RMB bill has passed away at 94 years old.
A lot of parents are asking a blogger for advice about going to high school overseas, because Chinese high school is too stressful. But they’re concerned about their children not being patriotic anymore after leaving China. The blogger admits that this is a very valid concern, especially since lately, there’s been many incidents of very patriotic Chinese students going overseas and getting into violent physical conflicts with their classmates over political differences, and that this is illegal in a lot of countries. So therefore, his advice is to send their kids to Russia. There are a lot of great schools in Russia. Russia’s leading the world in tech, and is pretty good in the arts too, and their food is great. A lot of modern Chinese processed food actually comes from Russia, so it’s very easy to find things like cream popsicles and sausages that were a hallmark of Chinese people’s childhoods. And you don’t have to worry about war in Russia, because it’s such a big country that no invader can win. Also, lots of hot chicks in Russia. But if your child is a girl, you have to be a little careful going to Russia, because their food is high in calories so it’s very easy to get fat. And Russian men like to drink a lot, so it might be a little scary for girls.
People are making fun of Taiwan under a video of a Taiwanese celebrity complaining about how expensive eggs have become. People in Taiwan can’t even afford tea leaf eggs anymore.
Further discussion under the trending topic #why are there so many single old men in Chinese villages. Blogger points out that this has nothing to do with high bride price. It has to do with a lack of women. This has been a problem for decades. Even 25 years ago, when this blogger was in primary school, he was noticing that there was a severe lack of women. His music teacher was pretty ordinary looking, short, and pretty chubby, and still had guys lining up trying to date her. Because any kind of high-quality woman goes to a big city at the first opportunity—no one wants to stay in the villages. And it’s only gotten worse—if you can find 3 women for every 10 men, you’re doing pretty well.
That’s the fundamental reason why villages have high bride price—sometimes equivalent to several decades of income for the man’s family. It’s just market economics. You don’t want to pay it? Well, there’s plenty of people who can’t wait for the opportunity to pay it.
As for why this gender imbalance exists, the blogger can’t say more on that topic.
And 70% of Chinese population lives in rural villages.
Someone in the comments points out that according to a 2000 census, the female infant mortality rate in Chinese villages to male infant mortality rate is 2.5:1. Even India only has 2:1.
In response to a trending #Department of Education responds to teacher striking student with ruler, Blogger says that hitting children is the fastest way to educate them. Children misbehave, don’t listen, you try to talk to him and he forgets in a minute. So you use the advantage of your height and strength to beat him up. He’s hurt, he’s in fear, now he remembers what you told him. It’s better than any lecture. You feel successful, you feel how convenient and easy beating your kids is, and you can vent your own frustration too. Fantastic.
You think you’re only doling out reasonable beatings, but children don’t know what’s reasonable. They only know they’re in pain. Because you’ve obviously got to beat them ’til they’re in pain, otherwise what’s the point?
You think you’ve protected his self-esteem because you didn’t slap him in the face. But for children, being hit in the bottom or having their hand struck is just as shameful as a slap in the face. Perhaps, he might even prefer a slap in the face, because then he can still use his hands for writing.
The only person beatings are good for is adults, because it saves their time and energy. Don’t try to say that you’re beating a kid for their own good.
In the comments, people ask, well, what else are you supposed to do? It’s not like there are lessons on how to be parents. Children aren’t perfect, and neither are parents, they just have to grow together. Some children never listen anyways. Even the Department of Education has said that a certain amount of beatings is necessary.
China has also figured out Ozempic exists, and are talking about how the drug is so popular that actual diabetics are having a hard time accessing it. In the comments, people say that the drug has a lot of nasty side effects like nausea anyways, and they recommend just sticking to Chinese medicine for helping with losing weight. Acupuncture is great at making you feel like you’re kind full 24 hours a day.
Blogger has been doing a series on what kind of person is best suited for emigrating to America. Today, he posts the final and fourth kind—extremists, particularly shameless extremists.
The final type of emigrant to America is uneducated, penniless, and has no advantage at all, except that they’re fearless. The kind of person who starts practicing swimming as soon as they hear that there’s no lid over the Pacific.
This type of person comes to America like they’re returning to their natural environment. Because while it’s hard to come to America with any kind of legitimate method, there are thousands of illegitimate ways to make it in America.
You can get all kinds of blue-collar jobs—gardeners, furniture delivery, plumbers are all paid fantastic, and most of it is in cash, great for tax evasion. You can get a nice house and nice car in no time at all. You can grow your favourite veggies in your big yard and keep a big dog.
Have a child and they’re automatically a citizen. Go to public school for free and even lunch is free. By the time your child is 21, you can get a green card yourself.
That’s much better than people who come over on a student visa, spend millions of RMB on their education, waste their time on endless quizzes and tests and group projects and practicing their class speeches over and over again. And at the end, they lose the lottery and have to return to China anyways and get a job that pays barely 2000 USD a month.
If all you want is a quiet, peaceful, uneventful life, don’t come to America, because this is not a country for normal people. Honestly speaking, the main reason a lot of people even want to come to America is just this weird mentality that they have more face is they’re a citizen of the strongest country in the world. But does any of that actually benefit your daily life?
Finally, the blogger emphasises that the best country for Chinese people is China. Anyone who leaves China is only doing so because they have no other choice and can’t actually survive in China. Only people who can be successful in China are truly success, a flawless winner.
Man seeks advice—his father has just been diagnosed with cancer. It’s pretty late stage, at most, his father can make it another five years maybe. He had been planning for a long time to go overseas and has gotten offers from his dream uni. But once this cancer thing happened, his mom has been trying to talk him into staying and spending his dad’s last days together as a family. But he doesn’t want to because he’s already 26. If he wastes 5 years, he’ll be 31, probably married with kids already. He thinks that if he doesn’t leave now, he won’t ever get to leave in the future. But this makes his mother think he’s cold and heartless.
