Another compilation of old people’s love of junk food:
“My grandma loves KFC tarts. My dad won’t let her have any because of her blood sugar, and my grandma is, like, “I’m 82 this year. When am I supposed to have tarts? After I’m dead?”
“My husband’s grandma is 92 this year and loves cake and cigarettes. She spends her own money and sends him to errands to buy cakes all the time. His grandma will be like, “Here’s 100 bucks. Go get a 4-inch animal cake for me and your wife to eat. Then buy me some cigarettes for us to smoke.””
“My grandma is 84, and I took her to a rotating hotpot [like rotating sushi, with a little personal hotpot in front of you and ingredients on a revolving belt] and boba tea. My grandma was like, “If I was still living with you uncle, I’d never get to have good stuff like this in my life.””
“My classmate’s 101-year-old great-grandpa has amazing teeth, but he still doesn’t have many left. He buys sugar cane from my house every year. He’s just a sugar cane machine! Sometimes, when I go visit him to bring him sugar cane, he’ll sneak me 200 bucks and have me buy him a bag of betel nuts, and the leftover change is my hush money. My classmate’s 76-year-old grandma found out and started telling me, “Ignore him! Stop hanging out with him!” And he got beaten up with a walking cane. The great-grandpa cussed out the grandpa all like, “Betel nuts plus cigarettes grants invincibility! I’m gonna chew it! You bastard! I’m giving her money just for betel nuts! You’re abusing old people!”“
“My grandma is in her 80s and will get hungry scrolling tiktok until 1-2AM at night, and then she’ll call me up and tell me to have the guy in yellow clothes deliver some food XD” [one of the major food delivery companies has all delivery drivers wear a yellow shirt/coat as their uniform.]
“My former best friend’s grandma would call me Mei Mei [美美, meaning “beautiful]. At that age, I loved garishly colourful hair. Every time the grandma sees me coming out, she’ll be like, “Mei Mei’s here!” So long as I go over to her place to eat, there’s always my favourite fermented eggs and tofu and carrot and meat stir fry on the table. Now that I look back on my old photos, at my clothes and my makeup and my horrible hair, I can’t believe she used to like me.”
“My grandma is in her 80s, and when my aunt stays with her in the hospital, they always buy her really bland, healthy food. Whenever I’m with her in the hospital, I get takeout, braised meat, meatballs, etc. My grandma loves it and is always trying to talk other grandmas in the room to also eat takeout XD”
“My mom is 70, and she gets up in the middle of the night to eat popsicles. I was like, “Aren’t you afraid of diarrhoea?” And she is like, “I can’t sleep without having a couple.””
A text exchange about why clothes look better when you try them on at the store:
Friend: “I saw it in a livestream before. I think it’s a very classic style from lp. Feel like it’s a practical piece.”
OP: “You look good in anything at the store. It’s kinda weird.”
Friend: “Because you would never go to the mall with your hair all messy, wearing your pyjamas, trying on clothes. But you just throw on whatever you buy off the internet at home.”
OP: “Yeah.”
Friend: “And there’s lighting and mirrors at the store, plus they iron all their clothes, so everything looks sharper. Chaoge’s clothes look way better in the mall. Ironing is so key.”
OP: “:D Yeah.”

#High school diploma Chief Operating Officer at national company responds in person. #High school diploma COO claims he wants to contribute to his hometown. “Lately, netizens claim that in the open hiring notice from a Shanxi nationally-funded company, one hire only had a high school diploma, which does not fulfil the job listing’s diploma requirements.
According to the Zuoquan County Media Centre’s public account’s post on the 10th of November, the Zuoquan County Kaihuadiao Media Development LLC is openly hiring 5 workers. One of the applicants for the position of “COO of Livestreaming”, Li Hua (pseudonym), had an overall score of 95.2 points and graduated from Zuoquan Middle School.
According to Tianyan Search, Zuoquan County Kaihuadiao Media Development LLC is a fully nationally-owned company established in 2021, mainly doing broadcasts, television, movie, and podcasts. The company was registered with 30 million RMB in assets.
Additionally, according to the hiring notice from Zuoquan Media posted on the 1st of November, the COO of Livestreaming required a diploma of vocational school or higher. In the “other requirements” section, it was specified that applicants needed to have 3 or more years of experience in livestreaming or internet marketing and needed to provide proof. Exceptions can be made for especially exceptional applicants.
On the 15th of November, Zuoquan County Kaihuadiao Media Development LLC’s executive office workers told Current News that said applicant was selected through open hiring. Although he only graduated from high school, he had the required amount of experience in the field and had provided detailed proof of past projects. “We wrote on our open hiring notice that we’ll make exceptions on applicants’ age or diploma if they’re exceptional.”
Said worker also explained that after posting the public hiring notice, only one person applied to this position.
The new hire, Li Hua, told Current News that he has been working in social media and livestreaming since graduating from high school. After applying, he provided evidence of his experience as requested and passed his interview.
When it comes to why he applied, Li Hua explained, “I’m from Zuoquan County. I want to use my experience to make some contributions to my hometown’s internet commerce industry.””
Comments say, “I think this is reasonable. Even if he doesn’t have a great diploma, he still has tons of experience in the industry, so I think he’ll do a better job than dummies with great diplomas.”
“I have a doctorate degree. I see no reason he shouldn’t have been hired. We haven’t worked this industry for nearly as long as him, so of course we can’t do as good of a job.”
“If he really is a big influencer with lots of fans, then there’s no problem with making an exception in hiring him.”
A compilation of people in Xinjiang trying to shop on the internet:
“Bought an anubias [aquarium plant] with free shipping. I was so touched. They even used Shunfeng for shipping! [A particularly reliable but expensive shipping company] When I went back to buy more, I found the shipping price is now 999 RMB.”
“I sell fish. Xinjiang friends never care how much shipping is. The only thing they ever ask if, “Is it shipped locally from Xinjiang?””
“I sold some clothes to Xinjiang. The order was placed in June, and the package arrived in August, and he was still really happy that summer wasn’t over yet so he could still wear it.”
“My house is only 20km away from Sha’anxi. We always have everything mailed to Sha’anxi, and then collect it all at once. It only costs 20 RMB to do a round trip.”
“Every night, I impulse buy a whole bunch of shit, and when everything arrives in Xi’an, they’ll stuff everything into a giant bag and a week later, when I get my stuff, I can enjoy the thrill of opening loot boxes, because I have no idea what I bought.”
“Bought some dried Amliso leaves [for making zongzi, Chinese rice balls, basically], and most people don’t even ship it to Xinjiang. I don’t mean no free shipping. I mean they won’t ship at all. Found some guy who wanted 28 RMB in shipping and I put in an order. After buying from him a couple of times, the shipping has become 280 RMB. I had to thicken my skin and go talk to the owner, and every time, he’ll manually edit it back to 28 RMB for me. You have no idea how moved I am.”
“I live right next to Liaoning. We’re less than a kilometre away from Liaoning. But I never get free shipping but Liaoning gets free shipping.”
“I just finished watching A Bite of China and wanted to try some naan. The naan cost me about 30 RMB, and the shipping was over 70 RMB.”
“Bought some brown sugar off of Pang Donglai [supermarket with great reputation], and the sugar was 13 RMB per box, and the shipping was 69 RMB XD”
“Thank you for caring! My stuff was 9.9, and the shipping was 30!”
“Temu package delivery will collect all the stuff I order for a couple of days and put them all in a transfer station and pack them into a giant bag. It’s normal to wait half a month. But at least they don’t want me to pay for shipping.”
“I bought a box of sweet oranges. No shipping, air-shipped by Shunfeng. Tried one and it was delicious. Went back to find that Qinghai will no longer ship to me T_T”
OP reposts a post which reads, “First of all, let me make it clear that I completely respect women’s exclusive right to reproduction. I support kids having their mothers’ last names. I support women raising kids on their own. I support women voluntarily being childfree because delivery and childcare is too hard. For women who think that children are just burdens and shackles, obviously voluntarily sterilising yourself would only increase your competitiveness in society, especially in the workplace.
You’re not having kids anyways. Why reserve your ability to get pregnant? You’re a feminist, right? Or were you planning on becoming a geriatric mom first before you commit to babies? You’re not a breeder, are you?
Not sterilising yourself is misogynistic! Having kids is the biggest betrayal to feminism!”
And a post responding, “I support MGTOW staying away from women, staying single and childfree. You’re not having kids either way, why keep your ability to impregnant people? Are you a breeder? You’re not a real man unless you get castrated.”
Comments say, “I’ve read so much of this shit I don’t even get mad anymore. I just want to laugh.”
“You live longer if you get castrated. That response is really kind and thoughtful.”
“[Commenter responds with a screenshot of another post which reads, “I support independent men not relying on their parents to buy a house and a car, don’t sell their sisters to put together a bride price, don’t hog their parent’s inheritance and split parental care with their siblings, don’t go after women’s premarital property, don’t go after their in-laws assets, don’t rely on women for housework, don’t rely on women for children, don’t rely on children birthed by women to carry on their surname, don’t rely on women to take care of their parents. Be the best independent man! Men who rely on themselves are true manly men!”]”
#Free buffet at hotel if you’ve donated blood more than 100 times. “On the 14th of November, Changzhou City’s Blood Centre posted another benefit for their blood donors through their public social media account, “Changzhou Blood Donation”: Certain blood donors can enjoy the buffet at the Changzhou Wenpu Hotel for free or at a discount. Certain people upvoted the post, but other have commented, “Who can donate blood 100 times in 10 years?” “That means donating blood practically every month! That’s inconceivable! Impossible! I don’t believe it!”
On the morning of the 15th, reporters learned from Wenpu Hotel that the promotion is real. The reporters asked the Changzhou City Blood Centre about people’s questions on the internet, and a worker claimed that over 80 people in Changzhou have donated blood more than 100 imtes in 10 years, which proves that it can be done. He explains, “Just donating platelets count according to our rules, and you can just donate platelet twice a month.””
Comments say, “I’ll award anyone who can live to 180 years old with a house in Guangzhou.”
“Isn’t this just fraud?”
“Do I really need your 300 RMB buffet that much? XD”
