“Just saw a social media post of a lady with a kid who’s had a fever 9 times in 2023. He was sick so frequent that he’s had to drop out of school. And there was a person in the comments saying that this isn’t an abnormal amount of fevers at all, that the doctors say it’s normal to have a fever every month.
Some comments even say that it’s normal for kids to get sick 8-12 times a year.
Human brains are magical. People can actually be brainwashed into thinking that it’s normal for kids to get sick every month.”
Comments say, “Even particularly sickly kids when I was growing up don’t get sick every month, much less normal people.”
“I’ve never needed to be hospitalised in my life, and I thought that was true for everyone. A lot of people are hospitalised for the first time in their life when they give birth to their own kid…and this kid in your post isn’t just having fevers. He’s been hospitalised twice.”
“So long as they’re not dead, it’s all normal. It’s normal to die too. It’s only abnormal to try to fight covid. [Doge]”
A principle posted a tiktok video of him announcing his plans to retire. And a blogger took screenshots of the comment section absolutely filled with comments left by all his past students, describing the physical abuse they got from him.
There’s a lot of comments, I’ll just pick out a selection of examples:
“2018, seventh grade, I was eating some ramen in front of the school supermarket and didn’t throw my trash into the trash can. You slapped me so hard I almost had a concussion.”
“2015, during PE class, I didn’t go run laps with the other kids, and instead went to the bathroom with some of my friends to pee. You came in to pee too, and when you saw me there, you came up and slapped me twice before I could even react. My face hurt for days.”
“2011, I was going to seventh grade at Xishuanghu Middle School. This Principle Liu came to inspect the girl’s dorms in the morning. We were only 10 years old back then, we were all boarding for the first time. Sure, it was our fault that we got up too late. At 6:30, Principle Liu locked the girl’s dorm and started slapping girls from the first floor to the fourth floor. Everyone got slapped. There was a girl in the bathroom at the time, who he kicked to the floor. This is all real. Principle Liu starts slapping people as soon as he sees anyone make any mistake, whether you’re a boy or a girl, whether the mistake was big or small. He doesn’t even try to talk to you first. It was my first time getting hit by anybody. I’ve read a lot of the comments here. None of this is memeing. This is PTSD from a lot of people’s childhoods.”
“2013, I was late to class and was crossing the field, when he called me over and grabbed me by the ear and slapped me. I had tinnitus for half a month from that.”
“2018, I couldn’t get to the bathroom in time and pooped in my pants in front of the bathroom, and got slapped by you.”
A blogger shows screenshots of someone’s social media post whose IP is in America, “Currently working full-time with a baby, and getting yelled at by my husband every day. I’m so depressed. I don’t even have time to eat until I get off of work at 4PM T_T I know the pain of not having anyone to help with my baby.”
The blogger writes, “This is what it’s like for people who ran to America and married an American. As soon as she was done having kids, she had to go back to work. Doesn’t even have time to eat lunch at work, and when she goes home at night, she still gets yelled at by her American husband. This is “freedom”? You’re just a slave!”
Comments say, “This isn’t even that bad. I’ve seen a case where even before marriage, the British husband was like, “I would never take care of pregnant women or kids.” When the girl was 6 months pregnant, she still had to fly to Thailand in the middle of covid to be a photographer.”
“It’ll be better once the kid grows up. He can enjoy the best education and the best healthcare in the most free and open country. It’s all worth it for the baby! [Doge].”
“All men all over the world is like this. Does it have anything to do with where she ran to?”
A tiktok video of local villagers robbing people at the Midi Music Festival in Henan, with the blogger saying, “Do you think shoplifting is only legal in America? It’s right here at the Midi Music Festival too. Remember to keep an eye on your goods while you’re out and about.”
“There are less and less babies these days. It’s not just that housing prices are too high and that people are marrying later and having children later and having a different attitude about this.
The other factor is that people are just under too much stress these days, and high stress isn’t conducive to having kids.
Like, I have a friend, who’s a classical example of marrying late. He only found a wife when he was 30, and took on a 3 million RMB mortgage in order to get married. He has to pay 20K back every month on his mortgage.
They’ve been married for over 2 years and don’t have any kids.
I asked him why, and he said that he’s just under too much stress. He burns himself out at work during the day, and wants to do nothing except sleep at night. He doesn’t have the energy to think about anything else, or else he won’t have any energy left the next day to go back to work. And once their mortgage pressures are too high, his wife will ruin the mood too.
He said that once, over the weekend, he was going to get it on with the wife, and they had already started, when his wife suddenly went out of nowhere, “Our mortgage is due next week. Do you have the money ready?”
And instantly, the mood was gone.
And they just washed up and went to bed.”
Comments say, “Fundamental reason, people aren’t happy enough. Or, I guess you could put it, that Chinese people have had too much to eat.”
“The housing price is going up way higher way faster than it seems natural. It’s like there’s some kind of government force behind it. Houses aren’t just products meant to solve people’s living situation anymore, and have turned into investment products.”
A blogger writes, “There’s a really famous question on Chinese Askreddit, “Linus can write such an awesome OS by himself, why can’t China do the same?” This question has over seven million views. I saw a high-upvote answer that was so accurate it hurt. I want you all to check it out. I’ve given a title to this answer: If Linus was born in China:
Linus studied “C Language Programming Design” by Tan Haoqiang, became very ambitious, and began writing his OS, but it was filled with way too many bugs, so he gave up.
Linus finished the first draft of the OS and was going to post it on the internet open-source, when he discovered that he needed to get ICP Permissions, and the process was way too much of a hassle, so he gave up.
Linus is going about applying for ICP Permissions, when it was discovered that his website would have a forum discussion section, and so the plans were rejected by the government, and so he gave up.
Linus finally obtained permissions and posted his system to the internet, and the Issues section became the Demands section. A bunch of people taking the code for free were making all kinds of ridiculous demands all day, so he gave up.
Linus is doing his best to fix the bugs, and slowly, others like him began to join the project. But one day, while surfing the internet, he accidentally came upon a whole horde of knockoff websites making buckets of money selling his code, and yet he hadn’t made a cent as the author, so he gave up.
Linus cheered himself up and went back to perfecting Linux, but his professor at school found his project. Soon enough, a article, “Professor [so-and-so] leads his students in creating brand new operating system” comes out, and the Professor wins all the awards and honours, as well as quite substantial funding. The Professor even “kindly” tells him, “Linus, you’re still young. You need to settle down and work on your skills. Don’t get tempted by the outside world.” Discovering the truth, Linus falls into depression and gives up.
Linus cheers himself up again and continues to maintain Linux and eventually graduates from college and goes into the workforce. But the 996 schedule has meant he has no time to keep up with Linux at all, and after much debating, Linus decided to prioritise making a livelihood and gave up.
Linus finally makes plans to feed himself on open-source code, but the very day he opened up donations, he is absolutely swamped by trolls. Even the media is posting inflammatory articles like, “Should open-source programmers make a profit on their work?” And a lot of rumours begin to fly around the internet of how much money he’s made from his work. Linus can’t stand it any longer and gives up.
Linus is much stronger on the inside than anyone thought and ignored all the flies buzzing and insists on trying to feed himself with open-code. The result is that every day, only a couple bucks here and there flow in, and yet the download numbers continue skyrocketing, to the point that most top IT companies are using his code now, but won’t donate even a cent to him. He can’t actually pay his bills and so he gives up.
Linus still keeps maintaining Linux, even if it doesn’t pay at all, until finally, an IT company abroad uses his code and generously donated quite a lot of money. Linus no longer has to worry where his next meal is coming from. But yet, an article quickly comes out, “Linus sells national secrets!” And it’s all over the trending posts. He’s been labelled a spy. And as public opinion shifts, he’s arrested and forced to give up.
While Linus is working on Linux, a bunch of friends join his ventures and some companies also join in in development. But due to the companies’ KPI system, they often spam a lot of edits on correcting punctuation marks and spelling mistakes. Linus sends an email asking them to watch out, and gets swamped by bots the companies hired telling him how ungrateful he is and he gives up.
A top IT company in China clones his code, makes some minor changes to it, and holds a press release hyping it up as the newest operating system they developed. Countless bots instantly drown out the voices of the couple of people who knew where that code came from. The company even came up with the slogan of Linux + [Company Name] = [New OS Name]. Linus has never seen such shameless advertisements and gave up.
After indescribable amounts of hard work from both Linus and his programmer friends, Linux is becoming more and more famous. At this point, his own server can’t handle the amount of visits he’s getting anymore, so he wants to use CDN technology. After checking out various CDNs both in and out of China, he’s decided on the free Cloudflare. And yet, a big influencer’s post about how Cloudflare is an American company and Linus must be working for America if he’s handing over all his data to them make his website once again swamped by trolls and internet bullies and bots. So he gives up.
To be continued.
If you were Linus, at what point would you really give up?”
The top comment is a pinned comment from OP, “If you think I’m just trolling, I’ll point out that every single example I’ve used here has actually happened to Chinese programmers. If you still insist I’m just trolling, then it just means you can’t handle hearing the truth.”
“Gotta add, if simile problems happen in the West, the comment section is all like, “See, this is why the West sucks.” But if it happens here, the comment section is all like, “If he can’t even over come basic hardships, it just means he really wasn’t that talented after all.””
“China is like this—despite all your trolling, we keep making groundbreaking advances.”
“It’s illegal for programmers to use github, so he won’t even get to the first point lol.”
“The world is crazy nowadays. There’s a trend going around now erecting statues of yourself. You can tell how egotistical these people are, how they want to be worshipped after they die. We know that there’s been various people throughout Chinese history, who’ve had statues erected for them by the government or by the people, after they’ve made great contributions to the nation. I’ve never heard of anyone commissioning statues of themselves. But of course, when you hold enough profit in your hands, your underlings will put on these shows to display their loyalty. Look how happy he is. You can tell this was exactly the gift he wanted.”
Comments say, “The person who deserves a statue the most is Mister Yuan.” [made GMO rice for China]
“Zhong [pic 2 and 4] owns a lot of stocks in Yiling Pharma, right? Lianhua Qingwen [supposedly covid medicine?] went from 20 something RMB a box to over 200 RMB a box. That’s all his work.”
“Statues are for your descendants to erect in memory of you. Having a statue of yourself put up while you’re still alive is so unlucky!”
