08/14/23 - Unemployment rates among young people is going to stop being published as a statistic.
Starting from August, unemployment rates among young people is going to stop being published as a statistic. The government claims the main reason is that: society is developing too rapidly, their data collecting methods need to evolve with the times too, including employment statistics research.
Comments say, “Everything’s fine so long as you close your eyes?”
“Yeah, whenever I see “smoking is dangerous for your health” come up on TV, I just close my eyes too.”
“There’s a saying, you know, “blocking your own ears to steal a bell”.”
“There are more and more men who are willing to marry into a woman’s family now. They’re more than willing to let their children take their wife’s last name. They might even be willing to live with their wife’s family! So long as their standard of living is high enough, they can accept anything.
I talked to a lot of men born between 1995 and 2002, and they don’t have any resentment towards marrying into a woman’s family. What they care about the most ins’t whose surname the child takes, but their standard of living after marriage.
That is, once they’re married, they’re marrying in anyways, they don’t want to go out to work. They want their wife to pay for everything. Based on what kind of standard of living their wife can provide, they are more than happy to quit their jobs and become a full-time househusband.
Their requirements are:
It has to be a big house. If they’re living with their wife’s parents, then minimum four bedrooms.
Their allowance has to be enough every month for them to afford to shop at high-end stores.
The child’s education need to be invested in.
There’s a nanny.
They have a car.
If you’re not adding their name to the house, then you have to pay a high bride price.”
A lawyer shows a submission he got, “Hi, Mister Wu, my first time submitting here. Please keep me anonymous. I’m a single child living in a tiny rural town. I want to consult you on a few questions about the situation where men take out mortgages before marriage and have their wives help them pay off the mortgage:
If I have the ability to pay a house off by myself and put it under my name, even though it’s my premarital personal property, once I’m married, I’m still liable for making payments on the house that he took out a mortgage on, right?
Does the law require that I have proof that I also contributed to the mortgage now, or does it just assume I have since we’re married?
Should I take out a mortgage and buy a house for myself before marrying, so I can pay back my mortgage with joint income too? (But our little town really doesn’t have a very good real estate market. I keep hearing about houses dropping in price, so I’m very hesitant). It’s super common to see men taking out mortgages to buy a house. I want to know how everyone else protects their property under these circumstances.”
The lawyer replies, “If you’re paying back a mortgage after marriage, the legal assumption is that it was paid off with mutual income. If the other party wants to claim it was paid with personal income, they’re the one who need to provide proof. If they have a mortgaged house before marriage and you want to provide your assets, the best way is for you to go transfer the money to pay off the house payments every month, out of an account that you hold the login information to, so you can check it at any time. And his salary should be turned over to you for daily expenses.”
Comments say, “With your background, do you really need to find a man who’s poorer than you?”
“Watch out, or it’ll turn out that he’s paying for the house and you’re paying for him.”
“You’re not even in the same class. You’ve got two houses and no mortgage. He’s got a single mortgaged house. Why would you marry him? Are you into poverty?”
At 8:30PM on the 14th of August, a landslide has happened in Hubei, Xingshan County, hitting a seven-seat minivan driving along the road, causing severe damage to the vehicles. All seven passengers have died. Afterwards, Xingshan County and Xuanchang City is organising rescue efforts, which are ongoing right now.
Comments say, “The telephone pole at the side of the road near where I live are all tilting because of the pouring rain lately. They’re on the verge of falling over at any point. I’ve been reporting the situation to every department I can think of for several days and nobody cares. They even threatened me to stop bothering them T_T”
“I don’t understand. Are there any departments responsible for surveying the rock face and trees on the sides of roads regularly?”
“The same thing happened in Chongqing a month, maybe two months ago. Sigh. RIP.”
“Investing in stocks without your spouse’s permission counts as a major fault in a marriage. Dunno if anyone else knows this gossip or not, but from what I understand, this is what’s going on:
The man’s parents bought him a house before he married. It’s under his name. It’s his premarital, personal property.
After marriage, he sold the house and invested in stocks and lost all the money. Then, he gets a divorce, and the woman thinks that the money from the sale of the house is mutual property. The man owes her compensation when he lost it all on the stock market. The courts agreed with her.
What a ridiculous world…marital laws are designed to rob from the rich and give to the poor…”
Comments say, “Wonder what would’ve happened if he made money on the stock market.”
“It says right there in the court documents that she submitted proof of their “Real Estate Property Agreement” where she owned 2/3rd of the house and he owned 1/3rd of the house. Before the house was sold, it was already mutual marital property. The guy had it coming.”
“According to your description, the courts made a mistake. Only the part of the house that rose in value is counted as marital property, not the whole of it. The woman can only be compensated for half of the increased value of the house.”
A tiktok compilation where parents pretend to be sick to see how their children react. The first lady collapses on the floor, and her daughter asks if she’s alright once or twice, then starts riding her like a horse. The second lady asks her daughters to bring her cup of water over, and they fight over who gets to bring her water. She eventually settles the fight by saying they can each carry half the cup. Then, the younger daughter insists on feeding the water to her mom, choking her instead.
An askreddit question, “Korea is a developed nation, right? Why do people from Korea look like they can’t afford meat all the time?”
In the comments, someone replies, “I don’t know if other people’s stories are true or not, I’ll just talk about what I saw. In 2018, I got married and went to Malaysia for my honeymoon. One day, I was visiting the mangroves, which supposedly have fireflies and the most beautiful sunsets in Asia. That sets the scene
We didn’t want any hassle, plus neither of us spoke any English, so we found a Chinese local to be our guide. Around 3pm, he took us to the dock, and told us that the boat can’t leave with just the two of us, we need to wait for another group to arrive. But first, we can eat from the free buffet here and rest a bit. Well, since we’re already here, we went and snacked a bit. There was fried rice, chicken wings, watermelon, and some sides and stuff. My wife and I each took two slices of watermelon, one chicken wing, and a little plate of fried rice. After all, we’d already eaten lunch. And then, a big group of Koreans all arrived.
There were about 6-7 of them, all young people. As soon as they arrive, I felt like an entire platoon had arrived. Their weird language filled up the whole space. We were feeding monkeys, and as soon as they got there, all the monkeys got scared off. Then they went and ate from the buffet too. Holy crap, did I witness some shit. You’re telling me this is people from a developed nation!? They acted like starving refugees! I looked—a 20-year-old girl ate about the least of them, and she had a mountain of chicken wing bones in her plate. I’m not even joking—a small mountain of them. Watermelons too, she ate an entire half a watermelon by herself. I’m not exaggerating at all. Maybe because she was the youngest, she was the last to go get her food. All the watermelon had been taken already. They had to cut a new one open for her, and they cut half a watermelon up. She took all of it herself. The waitress’s face was green.
It wasn’t a small watermelon at all! I’m from Shandong and I thought the watermelon was super big. And I watched them devour all of it and practically lick their plates clean. It was like watching a school of catfish feed.
I won’t talk about the mangrove tour, but I had to put up with their noise the entire way. On the way back, the tour guide told us that the boat captain yelled at the tour guide taking the Koreans around, that he didn’t let him know beforehand a Korean group was coming. He would’ve put a limit on the buffet if he had known.
Basically, I think everyone else is right. They really do act like they can rarely afford meat.”
Comments say, “You’ve watched Korean TV shows right? When do families in those shows ever have meat on their table? They just have a bunch of kimchi.”
“Whenever we get clients from South Korea, we don’t even take them to restaurants. We just send them off to 49 RMB a person buffets. Now, we don’t really deal with them anymore. They’re too embarrassing to hang out with.”
“I can speak about this too. I’d just gotten back from Spain, and in the restaurant, there was a group of Koreans literally screaming at each other to chat. Screaming. The whole restaurant was looking at them and they didn’t give a fuck.”
Would you review the movie “Joyride” ? Would love to hear your perspective on the US/Chinese/ Korean themes.
It’s a raunchy comedy, but it had some surprisingly deep themes. Taiwanese as subgroup of china was noticeable.
What would someone from your hometown say about the movie? Is the movie available?
