08/02/25 - A lot of things look like a huge conspiracy at first glance, but it’s actually just all kinds of coincidences.
A compilation of sales based on children:
“No wonder he’s a top sales guy. He’s seriously explaining this million RMB+ luxury car to three little kids.”
“Customers who leave because of price might come back. Customers who leave because of your attitude will never come back.”
“Right, my son loves hanging out in phone stores, and some owners or workers are really nice, and some aren’t. And I’ll tell my son, “We can go to any store you want, even if it’s far away. We won’t visit stores that are mean to you.””
“Sales guy: I saw two rich guys hanging out taking videos of this.”
“True story, a little kid came in to look at jewelry, and all my coworkers made fun of me, but I very seriously showed him a 1000+RMB necklace in the store. And one time, one kid came in with super dirty clothes and nobody wanted to talk to him, but I still listened to him patiently and he ended up spending 5K. And there was a grandpa who wasn’t even my customer, but my coworker said she didn’t want to talk to him and I was worried he’d be embarrassed, so I went and told him the design philosophy and materials used in our products and ended up selling him a 4000+ RMB bracelet. So if you’re working in sales, don’t judge a book by its cover.”
“Kids who are brave enough to check it out are going to be from comfortable families. Kids from poor families would never even walk into a store with expensive stuff like this.”
“Anyone who is able to take their kid to see a million+ car has kids who have seen plenty of shit. Selling it to the kid is the same as selling it to the adults. Everyone in the family is going to ride in this car. One more person liking it is always a good thing.”
“Hahahaha, I always pass out my pamphlets to little kids and remind them that there’s a kids menu. The little kids are so excited, and I get a lot of sales.”
“You know what precision sales is. Who can resist a stubborn kid?”
“Don’t underestimate kids. I was selling mansions in Shanghai. The first time, the parents came and they couldn’t decide. The second time, they brought in an 8-year-old kid, and I had a great time with him. He was calling me “big sister”. And when I was giving them a tour, I showed an empty room and said that they can make it a hobby room for their little prince, put legos or art supplies in it. I guess that must’ve been exactly what he wanted. The third time, they brought the grandparents, but because this mansion had no elevator, they were very hesitant. And now, the climax. The little kid kept insisting, “I want this one! I want this one!” And I guess the grandparents spoil the hell out of him, because they made an offer the day off for two units! Two units! One for the parents and kids, one for the grandparents! I was blown away! It was over ten million!”
“I worked sales during the summer once for a renovation company, where our cheapest order was in the five-figures. A little kid came in by himself, and they asked questions and my coworker would just ignore them. I figured I’d practice my skills on the little kid and explained everything to him, and the next day, he brought his mom in and signed a 200K contract.”
“If they’re interested in 2-3 different car models, the kid’s opinion might be the deciding factor. At least, when my kids says, “Dad, I like this one,” it works on me.”
“Don’t underestimate kids. My niece and her classmate went to hang out at the nearby mall, and her classmate spent 8000RMB on loot boxes at the merch store for cards and stuff. She paid for it with her smart watch. My niece has a card with a limit of 2000RMB, and her classmate’s card has a limit of 9000RMB.”
“A couple of days ago, I wore something like this to a live house, and I had a friend check it out beforehand to make sure it wouldn’t be too revealing. In the middle of things, a guy next to me (a stranger) went, “There’s a lot of people here. Do you want to put on my shirt?” At the time, I didn’t think anything of it, but afterwards, I thought it was kinda weird. And his ears were bright red when he was talking so me.
Ahhhhh what did he mean by this. Is he getting a different angle when he’s 180cm+? Did he see something he shouldn’t have? I’m so frustrated!”
Comments say, “I’m pretty tall, and sometimes, if my friend is wearing something with a loose collar, I can see all the way through it if I look down.”
“If your nipples aren’t showing, then it’s all fine.”
“The collar is pretty high here, and it’s really tight around your neck, I don’t think you would be showing anything. Is it some kind of new pickup line? Like a female-friendly pickup line?”
“This guy’s pretty kind, but maybe he just wanted to talk to you.”
#Female driver with badge is not government worker. “Since the 31st of July, multiple videos have been circulating online of “Badge Man appears on rural roads”, “Benz driver shows badge to force people out of her way”, etc, drawing a lot of attention. Fangcheng Harbour City Committee and City Government immediately established an investigative committee to confirm the facts, and here is all the relevant information:
How things happened:
According to investigation, around 5:30PM, on the 22nd of July, 2025, Lee [李] was driving a white Haval SUV through a narrow country road in Fangcheng District, Jiangshan County, and came head-to-head with Hou who was driving a black Mercedes SUV. When Lee refused the unreasonable request that he back out of the road to make way for Hou, Hou brought a badge that read “Administrative Law Enforcement” out of her car and showed it to Lee, and her passenger accurately announced Lee’s full name and address. Afterwards, Lee complained about it to the relevant department but did not receive a satisfactory reply, so he uploaded his dashcam footage on the 31st of July.
2. About the investigation:
The investigative committee visited and questioned witnesses, read through police reports, checked police databases, reviewed security camera footage and dashcam footage, pulled bodycam footage, and organised the parties involved to meet and talk with each other, and confirmed the following important questions to address Lee and the internet’s concerns:
The investigative committee questioned and found out that the driver of the Mercedes is named Hou, 28-years-old, from Fangcheng Harbour, Fangcheng District, Jiangshan County, and works at a certain car parts manufacturer (private enterprise) in Qinzhou. She is not a government official, and her parents are all villagers in Jiangcheng County.
A) After questioning Hou and her husband Li [黎, same sound, different name] (Fnagcheng Harbour, Shangxi County, second rank firefighter), the badge that Hou showed in the video was Li’s “PRC Administrative Law Enforcement Badge”, which he had left in the car. She showed the badge in order to intimidate Lee in order to make him back off. Hou’s behaviour has caused bad societal influences after being exposed online, and the police department is dealing with it in accordance to the law. Although Li was not there at the time, he still violated badge management policies and did not keep the badge on his person and instead left it in his wife’s personal car causing the badge to be used illegally. He is suspected of violating work policy, and Fangcheng Harbour Fire Team is investigating him.
As for whether Hou was flaunting wealth, research showed that the Mercedes Hou was driving was a second-hand car she bought in January of 2025 for 178,000RMB. She paid 100K in down payment with another 78K in car loans. She is the owner of the vehicle.
B) Why Lee’s “personal information” was leaked.
The investigative committee confirmed that Lee, male, 32-years-old, from Fangcheng Harbour, Fangcheng District, Jiangshan County, runs a daycare in Nanning and works in Nanning.
At the time of the incident, there were two passengers on Hou’s car, her father Hou Hai, and her young sister. Hou Hai’s family lives 800 metres from Li’s parents house. They are neighbours and cousins. Hou and Lee do not know each other, but Hou Hai knew Lee and his parents. When the two got into an argument as a result of their cars being head-to-head, Hou Hai got off the car to mediate and recognised Lee, and told Hou about Lee’s personal information including address, in the hopes of talking Hou into pulling aside and making way. After reviewing the body cam footage from the Jiangshan police on the evening of the 31st of July, Hou Hai and Lee’s mother knew each other. Lee works far away most of the year and did not recognise Hou Hai or his daughter. When he heard them talk about his family address, it made him confused and worried.
As for Lee and the internet’s concerns about private information being leaked, according to police investigation, Hou and her father did not have access to police databases or any other tools to look up other people’s information. They did not look up Lee’s information at the time. And according to an internal review by the police, there has been no searches of Lee or his parents in July of 2025, so the information was not leaked through the police system.
C) Why the police did not respond to Lee’s police report:
Around 3:35PM on the 24th of July, Lee went to his local Jiangshan Police Station to report his traffic conflict with Hou on the 22nd of July. He said that he’s worried he won’t be able to explain it well with words, so he showed text information on his phone to the police, and claimed that Hou was bullying and aggressive and he felt like his safety was in danger. If Hou was a government official, then Internal Affairs needs to look into her. If she was pretending to be a government official, then the police should look into her. Afterwards, the police on duty checked Lee’s dah cam footage and found there was no physical conflict or damage to property, and told Lee that this was an ordinary conflict and he should mediate with the other party. If a government official is suspected of violating party policy, he can report it to the relevant departments. Lee agreed and left the police station. The investigative committee believes that the police on duty acted in accordance with policy.
D) Why did the police come to Lee’s residence and demand that he delete his video and issue an apology:
The investigative committee reviewed the police report and determined through questioning that at 9:10PM, on the 31st of July, Hou, her father Hou Hai, and her husband Li went to the Jiangshan Police Station to report that Hou’s car and license plate information had been posted on Tiktok, and that night, they had received 11 illegal parking notifications from Guangdong, Jiangsu, Hubei, Henan, Anhui, Hunan, Sha’anxi, etc. They suspected that their car info had been leaked online, causing other people to use their license plate, and they requested police assistance. Hou Hai claimed to know Lee and know where he lives, but he did not have Lee’s contact info, and he asked the police to accompany him to find Lee to deal with this. After receiving the report, Jiangshan Police Station sent out one police and one assistant police to accompany the party to arrive at Lee’s house around 10:17PM. He was not at home, so they explained the situation to Lee’s mother and asked for Lee’s contact info. Afterwards, the police called Lee on his phone and had a 6 minute confirmation, to inform him that the video he posted leaked Hou’s car information and may be a violation of her civil rights. They told him that Hou requests that he delete the video and apologise, but Lee did not agree to do so. That night, the police repeatedly attempted to negotiate and resolve the conflict, but all attempts failed. This was recorded by the police’s body cams. In the end, the police told Hou to preserve all evidence, and if necessary, she can bring a civil suit to court.
Investigation showed that the Jiangshan police had their body cam on the entire time and did not violate any policy or display any inappropriate behaviour. But they chose poor wording when they talked with Lee, and they have been sternly lectured by the Fangcheng Harbour Police Management Team.
E) Why Fangcheng Harbour Police Station employees hung up on reporters:
According to the investigative committee, around 3:39PM on the 1st of August, Fangcheng Harbour Police Station Promotional Department received a call from Tidal News reporters on their landline. The assistant police who picked up the phone, Su, was inexperienced and bad at improvisation. The department was badly managed and did not immediately communicate with relevant parties and hung up the phone immediately. The city police station has already sternly lectured the department director as well as Su and asked them to write a letter of reflection.
3. What is the next step:
This case started with an accidental traffic disagreement. This was an ordinary daily conflict, but because it was not dealt with properly, it has caused bad influences and societal misunderstanding. This shows that our workers are not strictly trained, and did not react proactively enough to the opinions of the public and the concerns of the internet. Their reaction to conflict resolution is not precise or powerful enough. We will learn from this and do wide reforms. We will sternly process any workers who violate policy or fail to perform at their jobs and release information on time. At the same time, we will deal with the cause of the problem and continue to improve officials’ morals and behaviour, rely on the rule of law and work to resolve conflict. We welcome friends from all industries and the media to keep an eye on our work.”
Comments say, “So, his cousin and her parents showed up with the police in the middle of the night to intimidate his parents? If they’re all related, why not get a middle man to do it?”
“The biggest problem here is why Li left his badge in his wife’s car and why she’s so practiced at using it? Have Li and Hou done this before? Does that mean they’re used to using this badge in daily life for their own convenience?”
“I remember years ago, police reports weren’t nearly this detailed. But every case that draws a lot of public attention gets a super detailed report now. That’s a form of progress, I guess. The contents of this report stand up to scrutiny, and it fits with my personal experience. A lot of things look like a huge conspiracy at first glance, but it’s actually just all kinds of coincidences that come about when you work with the public.”
