#Man spends 10K purchasing excavator online and it turns out to be a toy. According to a Guangxi court, Mr. Luo spend 10K purchasing an agricultural excavator online, and received a toy excavator in the mail. He felt defrauded and sued the seller. The Luhan County People’s Court heard the case and made a ruling recently, that the seller committed fraud and must pay back 3 times the item’s value according to the law.
On the 15th of February, Mr. Luo needed to work on his orchard, and found a mini multi-purpose excavator with treads on Mr. Zhou’s store on Xianyu [Chinese ebay]. The excavator’s description read, “Shredding/moving lumber/baling grass/drilling holes/multi-purpose machine that does more than excavate.” It was listed for 10K. After Mr. Luo confirmed with the owner all the functions the machine had, he paid the 10K and put in his order. 10 days later, Mr. Luo received a toy excavator in the mail, entirely different from the agricultural excavator he thought he was purchasing. After negotiations with Mr. Zhou failed, he took the case to the Luhan County People’s court on the 15th of April.
Mr. Luo submitted his text exchange with Mr. Zhou, proving that before he purchased the machine, he asked detailed information from Mr. Zhou, who promised that the excavator can be used in orchards. That was the reason Mr. Luo decided on the purchase.
After hearing the case, the court decided that Mr. Zhou’s behaviour constituted fraud, and ruled that Mr. Zhou must refund Mr. Luo 10K, as well as three time that amount in damages, and Mr. Luo must return the toy excavator he got.
The judge explains that when consumers are defrauded, not only can they demand a refund, they can ask for three time the value of the item as compensation. If the item is less than 500 RMB in value, 500 RMB is the minimum amount for compensation. Consumers need to make sure to collect evidence, including screenshots of the order, text exchange with customer service, the item they received, test results, maintenance receipts, etc. Not only is this evidence of whether the seller committed fraud, it’ll be important evidence to prove whether the consumer made the purchase under misleading information.”

A video suggesting that people wear shirts when doing facial recognition on their phone, because it might look like on the screen, the phone is just looking at your face, but the workers on the other end can see your entire upper body. And the videos taken of the facial recognition process is going to be stored online for a very long time.

Lately, Chengdu’s Longquan Ze Court resolved a special case. A man brought three giant bags of coins to pay his 10K in fines. This behaviour was ruled by the court to be “passively resisting court orders, severely affecting the normal work process at the court, and wasting law enforcement resources.” Because of “resisting court orders”, the man was fined another 2000 RMB.

#Why is Thailand regretting legalising marijuana? According to the Times Weekly [Chinese newspaper that has nothing to do with the Time magazine], after two years, Thailand is preparing to criminalise marijuana again. According to Bangkok News, the newest Thai Department of Health head expressed on the 7th that they need to reconsider Thailand’s marijuana policy.
As early as May this year, the Thai President Srettha has said that he would like to readjust marijuana policy by the end of the year. He posted on social media, “I hope the Department of Health will adjust their policies and make marijuana a type of narcotic medicine, for use in healthcare purposes only.”
Various media like Pengbo News has predicted that the new policy will come into effect on the 1st of January, 2025.
In June of 2022, the last government announced that Thailand is going to become the first Asian country to legalise marijuana. In the following two years, Thailand’s domestic marijuana retail industry has experienced explosive growth. Tens of thousands of stores and companies have sprouted up. According to Lutou News, Thailand is predicted to produce over 1.2 billion USD’s worth of marijuana by 2025.
And yet, due to a lack of proper oversight, the dangers marijuana has brought to the citizenry has already brought a lot of headaches for the Thai government. “Drugs will destroy a country’s future. A lot of young people are already addicted. We need to hurry up and confiscate all the drug dealer’s assets and expand rehab options.” Srettha said.”

I guess we just gotta only buy level one oils in the future (except soybean oil). Level one peanut oil, rapeseed oil, corn oil, and sunflower seed oil needs to go through decolourisation and dewaxing after being transported, to get rid of impurities and contaminants, so it’s relatively safer.
Try to buy from big brands like Jin Long Yu or Fu Lin Men. They h ave higher standards for their products and their own dedicated oil trucks.”

3x the lost money as compensation is sweet for the buyer but unlikely to deter future frauds. In my jurisdiction shenanigans like that could result in up to 15 years behind bars.
