03/29/24 - The reason their kid has bad grades is because the homeroom teacher’s surname brings misfortune.
A compilation of people arguing that the 50% middle school graduation quota is a great idea:
“When I was a student and I heard that half of all students can’t make it into high school, I thought that ratio was insane. The involution was way too much. It’s ridiculous. Now that I’m a teacher, and I see students who refuse to study no matter how you persuade them and parents who act like their child is royalty and blame everything on the teachers, I feel like a 50% middle school graduation rate is great education reform. It’s wonderful!”
“They should limit how many people even get to go to middle school. There are boys who’ll get up from their seat in the middle of class to go bite other people in the butt, or suddenly yell or start dancing. Like, there’s all kinds of crazy retards mixed up in mandatory education.”
“All I ever see is parents of boys complaining that the graduation quota is prejudiced against boys, that the high school entrance exam is rigged against boys, that it’s only girls getting the good marks. Lol. If your kid’s dumb, they’re dumb. Don’t blame the exam system. You’re better off reflecting on what grades you used to get as parents.”
“Oh, don’t forget, “He’ll get better once he’s in school.” “He’ll get better once he’s in middle school.” “He’ll get better once he’s in high school.” “He’ll get better once he has a job.” “H’ell get better once he’s married.” “He’ll get better once he has a baby.””
“Oh also, the reason their kid has bad grades is because the homeroom teacher’s surname brings misfortune. Her son’s birth numbers lean towards blah blah blah, the teacher has to change her name blah blah blah, or they have to assign a new teacher or they’ll file a complaint.”
“There aren’t that many chavs around. Most of these people are just normal, average students. My cousin is taking his high school entrance exam this year. He’s staying up late every night to study, working so hard he’s losing hair. Kept it up for three years, and even the teachers said he had decent grades and he could get into high school. And now this graduation quota meant he can only go to technical school. Now he’s having a break down at home.”
“How hard can middle school exams be? They say it’s a 50% graduation rate, but all the people getting eliminated are just people who refuse to study. The proportion of people who get eliminated because of mental health issues is probably less than 5%.”
“After moving in with my boyfriend, I’m so upset I want to cry, but I can only vent here.
I’m paying 4000+ RMB a month in rent, I buy all the groceries, I cook all the food, I wash all the dishes, I buy all our daily necessities, I clean up around the house.
I just told him to go wash the dishes, said I was exhausted. And he said that he doesn’t like to wash dishes, so he’s not gonna. I was like, “It’s not like I loved cooking at home either.” And he just laid there in silence and kept playing on his phone.
I asked him if this was how he was going to treat me if we got married, and he said, “Well, it’d be differen5 if we’re married though.”
I want to cry. I’m so upset.”
Comments say, “Wow, paying money to be someone’s maid. I’m so jealous of your boyfriend.”
“You don’t bring up at all how he buys you bags and bracelets and necklaces?”
“Of course it’s gonna be different once you’re married. Now, it’s just him by himself. Once you’re married, you’ll have to take care of his whole family :D”
Pengbo News writes, “The infamous “Man accused of rape after having sex on the first date and refuses to admit guilt even though it would reduce his sentence.” case has had new development. Dafeng News reporters learn from the defendent Di’s lawyer that he has received 570K RMB in damages from Tangshan Court.
Di was a Tangshan native. Before he was sentenced, he worked as a driver at a fire station. He was single, and on the 22nd of February, 2018, a local matchmaker agency introduced a girl to the 30-year-old Di. They liked each other after meeting up, and that night, Di took the girl and the owner of the matchmaker agency, Wang, out to dinner. After dinner, Di and the girl drove over to the river on the north side of town to hang out, and ended up having sex in the car. Afterwards, Di drove the girl back to the matchmaker agency.
That same night, the owner of the matchmaker agency called Di and said that the girl regretted having sex with Di, and wanted Di to pay a couple grand as damages. Because the girl refused to speak to Di, and Di didn’t want to accept the amount of money the matchmaker agency owner demanded, they never reached an agreement.
Di’s family says that the next day, the matchmaker agency owner took some people to his house to keep negotiating damages. He wanted 20K for the girl. Di believed that this was extortion and refused to give money. Noon, the same day, matchmaker agency owner Wang called the police.
On the 1st of March, 2018, Di was arrested. 29th of December, 2018, Luannan County Court sentenced Di to 3 years in prison on the charge of rape. Di appealed the decision, and on the 26th of February, 2019, Tangshan City Court dismissed the application for appeal and maintained the lower court’s sentence.
Di says that while he was in prison, he refused to admit to his guilt, and kept urging his family to continue appealing on his behalf. “I had chances to have my sentence reduced, but I had to admit to my guilt in exchange, and I absolutely refused to accept that. I would rather serve my full sentence than to admit to that crime.”
With Di and his family’s persistence, on the 16th of December, 2021, Hebei Province High Court ordered Tangshan City Court to retry the case. On the 10th of December, 2023, Tangshan City Court retried the case and determined there was insufficient evidence to support the charge of rape, and exonerated Di.”
Comments say, “I bet that’s how that matchmaker agency makes all their money.”
“This matchmaker agency is absolutely just a brothel/scamming agency. It’s totally extortion.”
“Wang and this girl is guilty of extortion too. I hope they won’t get away with it!”
“Wow, the government is so rich XD”
“At least he got through those magical three years unscathed.”
“American prices can’t be this insane, right? Is this like protection fees? Because if you park on the street, your windows will get smashed, or your wheels will get stolen or something?
This is a random carpark I saw in New York, 33 USD an hour, 12 USD extra if you’re an SUV. And the most amazing part is, 633 USD per month, and if you’re a Jaguar, Mercedes, BMW, Tesla, etc, you have to pay an extra 253 USD.”
Comments say, “If I read that correctly, there’s also a 18% parking tax? Can someone explain this?”
“The bicycle fee is even more ridiculous—275 USD a month! That’s enough to buy 7 bicycles in China! Why does this even exist? At that point, you might as well just buy a new bike every time you lose one.”
“Zhujiang, Xincheng, the carpark below my workplace costs 800 to 1000 RMB a month. And the people in the building make average 6000-7000 RMB a month.”
A tiktok video of a Chaoshan tea ceremony:
Comments say, “I don’t understand why all of this is necessary just to have some goddamn tea.”
“So this is how all our water is wasted :P”
“How does she not get burnt by the water?”
A compilation of people talking about…um…newly refurbished apartments? [串串房 - chuanchuan units, where it’s not just newly remodelled, but also has unsafe levels of formaldehyde.]
“Three signs of newly refurbished apartments: 1. Completely new mattress with the plastic wrap still attached. 2. Super new walls. 3. A really old and dirty fridge put in there as a disguise. They’ll promise that the cleaning lady is coming over tomorrow and that fridge will be good as new when you move in.”
“I’m allergic to formaldehyde. Every time I go in, I start getting hives all over my body, like I’m a walking detector.”
“Chuanchuan units are basically several rooms all on one floor, newly remodelled, with most of the appliances still in their boxes, with super high formaldehyde. They’re just looking for someone to live inside it and act like a human air purifier.”
“Oh my god, I think I lived in one of these for a whole year.”
“It’s true. This is why I liked to rent in really old developments. I feel safer in old houses, and this type of landlord doesn’t like to rent to any random people.”
“The easiest way to identify a chuanchuan unit: completely empty inner city slums are safe, clearly furnished for a family and has sighs of being lived in is safe, super new walls and tables and beds are unsafe, having a ton of wallpaper and cabinets and couches are unsafe.”
“I’m just curious why isn’t anyone doing anything about this? Surely, there’s gotta be safety standards for what you can legally rent to people? This is way too dangerous!”
“Don’t rent any place that has wallpaper! They have mold! There’s be this kinda subtle smell that you just can’t figure out the source of! It took me a year to figure it out!”
