A blogger posts a screenshot of a tiktok video where an expert gives his opinion of how to solve the problem of rural men not being able to get married. Captions show that the expert says, “We should consider opening up international marriage, bringing in large amounts of young women of marriageable age from overseas.”
And attaches a compilation of comments beneath:
“What an interesting way to say “human trafficking”.”
“If it’s Vietnamese women, that’s not such a bad idea. We’ve all got the same culture.”
“A lot of underdeveloped areas in South East Asia has a lot of marriageable women to choose from. It’s just a matter of policy at this point. Haters only know how to hate—they never bring up any solutions.”
“What, you think overseas women are retarded?”
“How the hell did he even get his degree?”
“Just make sure we don’t bring in any black trash.”
“If you don’t have money, how are you gonna bring any women in?”
“Do people in this comment section not understand that our country is the most important? If too many people don’t get married, then they have nothing to lose, and they can get easily riled up. It’s a big issue for societal stability.”
“Are we really at such a ridiculous stage already? If nobody wants you, why would you pass down your genes to begin with?”
“We’re just gonna see more scammers then. Not like European women will want to come. It’ll only be people from Yunnan, Myanmar, Laos, or Vietnam.”
“What the hell? Why can’t men just marry each other?”
“This is a pretty good idea. We should’ve been loosening up immigration a long time ago, if nothing else, so that urban middle class people can’t keep holding our country hostage.”
On the 24th of March, a 7th grader in Fujian, Jinjiang City, Lingshui Middle School committed suicide by jumping off a building. Her family claims that she had left a suicide note about the bullying she was subjected to at school. The mother says that there were at least 2 bullies, one of whom was demanding money from her daughter long-term. The mother says, “I just want an explanation right now. Who was bullying her? Why would they bully my child.”
Jinjiang City Department of Education has released a notice regarding this case, that they have established a joint task force with the police department, and are currently investigating this case.
Comments say, “We should stop using the term “bullying”, and instead call it, “long-term assault and battery + humiliation + extortion resulting in death.” If there’s enough evidence, you can get thrown in jail. If someone dies, regardless of age, you can get sentenced to life or death. “Bullying” is too gentle a term. It doesn’t match up to the amount of torture the victim suffered before death.”
“Wow, imagine what demonic bastards you have to be to dare to pull this shit when the Handan murder case had just happened and all of society is calling out for the death penalty. You have to get rid of these kids. You have to sentence them to death. This is not a normal case. If these demons remain in the world, they’ll just cause even more tragedies in the future. We have to kill them off, cut it off at the root, or it’ll never end.”
“If the law continues to not punish underage criminals, then we’ll just have more and more tragedies.”
A blogger reposts someone else’s post, “I’ve already spent 30K this month. Mortgage + car payments add up to 10K. Tuition for my kid’s daycare + food + class fees + book fees is 5500. That’s already 15K by itself.
Other car expenses (gas, electricity, parking fees) add up to 3K. Then it’s just groceries, medicine, two pairs of shoes, a couple new outfits for my kid because his old ones are getting too small, repaired my computer…
I never bought any luxuries, never went out, never spent a ton of money, and only have one child, and money still disappears like crazy. I have no idea how families that only make 10K a month even survive.”
OP says, “You can sell your house and car and rent an apartment for 3K a month. That way, you don’t have to pay your mortgage or parking fees.”
Comments say, “He wrote all of that just to say the last line.”
“Does he pay tuition and parking fees every month??”
“People who make 10K a month don’t have house or car payments.”
“I’ve been with my girlfriend for half a year, and she knows I like to game. It’s hard to find a job right now, so I’m stuck unemployed at home, basically playing video games all day. She’s working day and night and never has any time to spend with me, so gaming is all I can do anyways. I’m using a 580 to play games [Radeon RX 580 graphics card, I think], and it’s starting to not hold up. My girlfriend makes a ton of money. I want to find a job too, but I can’t find anything that pays more than 3-4K a month. So, I asked my girlfriend to buy me a 4090 [GeForce RTX 4090], and she got mad at me. What should I do?
ETA: She’s always complaining that I’m too fat and telling me to diet while I’m at home. But I’m only a little over 100kg. I don’t think I’m fat at all.”
Comments say, “How the hell did someone like you manage to find a girlfriend???”
“Pigs can use the internet now? Maybe I’m just hallucinating from lack of sleep. I’m gonna go take a nap.”
“Lol, looks down on 3-4K a month jobs, but want to spend your girlfriend’s money on a high end graphics card when you make 0 RMB a month.”
Question: “What did someone say to you that you didn’t know how to respond to?”
Answer: “Went to Lugu Lake in 2019, and saw two little girls selling dried mushrooms. I think they were sisters or something. The older one looked to be about 11-12 years old. The younger was probably 6-7 years old. They said they were working part time while going to school and wanted me to buy a pack of mushrooms.
I’d left my bag at my hotel and I didn’t want to carry a bag of mushrooms in my hands all day, so I told her that I don’t need any mushrooms, I’ll just give her 50 RMB.
And she was like, “Uncle, we’re not beggars.”
I had no idea what to say in that moment. In the end, I ended up buying some mushrooms after all. I still can’t forget that wind-burnt face.”
Comments say, “My sister once met a little grandma selling fruit by the side of the road. She felt bad, so she bought all of the fruit, and even asked where the grandma left and got her phone number. On the weekend, my sister bought a big jug of oil and a big bag of rice and some daily necessities and went over to the grandma’s house, just to see that her house was a lot fancier than ours.”
“Mushrooms in Yunnan aren’t cheap.”
“I’m a beggar. Give me 50 RMB.”
“Honestly, all the people getting huge social security checks these days, 10K a month or even 20K a month, it’s too much. They’re making more money than young people are by working. And it’s not like they ever paid into social security back when they were young. They’re not getting that much because they contributed that much. A lot of them only have middle school or even primary school degrees. It’s not as though they’re getting more because they’re more educated. A lot of them were just normal salarymen their whole life, so they never contributed much to society.
Not only do they have a ton in social security, they also got to buy houses for a couple grand a unit, and now these houses are worth millions or tens of millions. They’ve made more money than most people can in a life time.
They don’t just keep themselves alive with their social security, they’re supporting their children and their grandchildren. Social security checks are supposed to be a basic social safety net for old people, not some kind of luxury. We can’t keep raising it every year. That’s too much of a burden on the government.
Because of high social security checks, children just rely on their parents, and grandchildren rely on grandparents, and the whole family fucks off. They don’t have to do anything to earn that money. That’s bad for our society, and bad for them too. Once the old people die, after relying on them for so many years, their children won’t be able to find any work and will just become a burden on society.
More and more people are retiring. The burden on social security is heavier and heavier. It’s time we faced the social security problem, the earlier the better.”
Comments say, “But we don’t get a say. Those old people and their coworkers decide everything.”
“They might have gotten an honorary promotion before retiring too, like deputy directors becoming directors right as they’re about to retire.”
“Reality tells us that all inequality is there by design. Equality is nothing but a slogan.”
“I was eating at the mall today, and over heard a couple talking. Or, well, maybe they’re not together yet, but they were pretty flirty. Anyway, that doesn’t matter. I just heard the girl say, “I didn’t buy most of my stuff. They’re all gifts from my best friend.”
And the guy was like, “Why the hell would they buy stuff for you?”
And I thought they were going to start fighting or something, but the girl said, “Because they’re all great people, and they all love me.”
And the guy was like, “Why would they love you?”
And the girl was like, “Because I’m also a great person.”
I was eating while eavesdropping, and at this point, both me and the guy stopped eating to stare at her. She wasn’t super pretty or anything, kinda cute. The guy kind of paused a bit, and then went, “Yeah, you are pretty great.” And I was just blown away.
At first, I thought the guy was pretty hot, and the girl was just average. But after hearing that, it’s like the guy just faded into the background. This girl is so awesome! Even if it’s just a random moment in life, I still keep thinking back to it. I’m so jealous of her entitlement! [配得感 - feeling like you deserve what you have. It’s a positive term. “Entitlement” sounds negative, but I couldn’t find a better term for it.]
Comments say, “I would be really turned off if a guy questioned me like this. Why is it so shocking that my best friend is nice to me?”
“Reminds me of an ex boyfriend I had. When we fought, he also brought up stuff like how I never pay for our meals when we go out so I’m taking advantage of him. That he doesn’t understand why my friends are so nice to me. I mean, is it possible that he paid for the meal, so I bought our movie tickets and boba tea? I just told him straight up that my friends are nice to me because I’m a nice person. Why else? Now that I think back, man, he was a weirdo.”
“Got a ridiculous takeout order. Does this person think I’m a genie or something? Just stop getting take out. I’d accommodate one or two changes, but if you want everything in the meal switched out, all for stuff that’s completely different in price and quantity, then I just don’t know what to say. Honestly, this takeout shit drives me crazy.”
OP attaches screenshots of the takeout order, with the notes, “Customer requires utensils. Please switch fish balls, shrimp balls, beef meatballs, and intestines to fish cakes, sausage, and fish sticks. Switch potatoes, sea weed, puffed tofu to rape, shredded taro, Thai bail, and bamboo shoot.”
Comments say, “Lol, check out mine.” [Commenter attaches a screenshot of takeout order notes that say, “Please hurry. Heat up the meal super, super hot. Add in extra eggplant sauce, marinade, and honey. Extra pork and chicken. No beef please. Cut the chicken into bigger chunks. Don’t grill the chicken to the point it’s black. Extra eggs. Add a little bit of bokchoy, not too much. Don’t put in sow thistle, no chilli peppers, no cumin, no black pepper, no broccoli, no green beans, no curry, thanks.”]
“Holy shit. All I’ve ever asked for is no green onions or no bean sprouts. What the hell, guys.”
“If there’s literally nothing in the combo meal you want, don’t normal human beings just order things a la carte?”
“In order to let his wife with Uremia live a coupe more years, a man forged the hospital official stamp, taking advantage of loopholes to scam the hospital out of 170K+ RMB of medical expanses.
But even with the stamp in hand, he still worked day and night. In four years of time, his wife needed dialysis 200 times, and he only used the official stamp 49 times.
In the end, he was sentenced to three years in jail, to maintain the dignity of the law, and 4 years of probation, to maintain the bottom line of morality.”
Comments say, “It’s not that big a deal. If our civil servants could spend a couple less days in the ICU, we’d all have enough money.”
“You can whitewash even this?”
“Take advantage of loopholes in the stock market, get fined 500K. Take advantage of loopholes in the healthcare system, go to jail.”
American media just reported the news that a bridge in Batimore collapsed because of it was struck by a freight ship. According to some media reports, there were still cars on the bridge when it collapsed. More information is coming.
Comments say, “Wow, good job, America. Even their bridges collapse just like in the movies.”
“Also interesting fact—this bridge was named Francis Scott Key Bridge. This guy was the song lyric writer for the Star-Spangled Banner. He was imprisoned on a British warship in 1914, and witnessed the British bombard Baltimore’s McHenry Fort all night. When he saw the flat still flying over the ruins in the morning, he was inspired to write the Star-Spangled Banner. I feel like this bridge collapsing is some kind of omen.”
“How long would it take to clean all this up? Are they even going to clean it up?”
“Uni student working as a tutor, I feel like I’m a scammer.
Every time I go over, I have to be really proper and strict to the kid, but I’m just freaking out in my mind and want to laugh or something. Like, I feel like a little kid who’s pretending to be an adult.
I passed both my EASA Level 4 and Level 6 exams by cramming the night before, but I have to tell this kid to always study beforehand or he’ll fail his exams. Just makes me feel even more like a fraud.
I can’t sit for 10 minutes in a lecture before I start playing with my phone, but I’m expecting this kid to sit there and listen to me lecture for a whole hour.”
Comments say, “As a former uni student who’s now a parent, when I hire a uni student as a tutor, I’m just looking for a young, lively girl to play with my son. But every time, I have to pretend like I really care about his grades, in case they get too chill.”
“When I work as a tutor, the kid’s mom told me outright she doesn’t care about his grades. If they improve, great. But my main purpose is just to play with her kid. Even told me to take the kid out to eat or play basketball or watch movies, all expenses paid. I ate out with the kid once and spent 260 RMB, and she just reimbursed me 500 RMB.”
“I watched someone’s kid from morning to night for 10 straight days, and made lunch for the kid out of my own pockets too, and just got 1000 RMB at the end of it. This is why you never work for people you know.”
That one about the graphics card has got to be an intentional troll.
