“Daughter in law got mad because relatives started eating before I sat down at the table.
My family is like this every year. We have a lot of relatives, so from the 2nd onwards, various visitors come over, and I have to cook. And anyone who’s cooked before knows, no matter how hungry you are, you don’t have much of an appetite after cooking a full meal, so I don’t normally eat at the table when there are relatives over.
A couple of days ago, some relatives came over, and I made a big table of dishes, and my DIL said at the table, “Wait for mom to get here before you start eating. She cooks all this food every year and doesn’t get to eat any of it.” But everyone was chatting and didn’t hear what she said, and someone reached out with their chopsticks. My DIL isn’t a very extroverted person. I heard from my son later that she got so angry, she was red in the face, and said loudly, “Wait before you eat! Wait for mom to get here to eat together!” And the relatives all politely put down the chopsticks and agreed.
My DIL came into the kitchen to tell me to go eat, and I said I didn’t want any, wasn’t hungry, and to tell everyone else to eat the food before it got cold. And my DIL got mad at me for the first time, “Mom, are you this family’s nanny? Why do you only work and never eat? Go eat your food!” And then she dragged me in.
Even thinking about it, it makes my heart warm. My sweet child, she feels bad for me. My son was like, “Mom, you weren’t nice to your DIL for nothing, huh?” Yeah, I wasn’t nice to her for nothing.”
Comments say, “From another point of view, the DiL has been in your family for far less time than your son. You son grew up watching you cook a big meal and end up only picking at leftovers and never thought there was a problem with that and thought he was entitled to enjoy your service. Your DIL came along and felt sympathy for you, and now your son jumps out and throw around that you weren’t nice to her for nothing? What a waste of food your son and your invisible, worthless husband is.”
“When I was little, my mom had to cook every Spring Festival, so she was always the last to the table. One time, I saw her sit down with exhaustion and a people-pleasing smile on her face and I told the relatives, “Everyone, look how hard my mom worked! I suggest we all make a toast to her!” It was my turn to make a toast, so I said that. But nobody responded to me and just kept eating and drinking.”
“You’re a picture of her future.”
“What kind of weirdo have you encountered on a plane?
One year, I was flying from Guangzhou to Beijing, and the salt and pepper packet that came with my food was expired.
I asked the air stewardess to come over. She took a look and left, and in a little bit, the head air stewardess came up and carefully asked what I wanted.
I said I didn’t want anything, I just wanted to let them know. The head air stewardess breathed out a sigh of relief, grabbed the salt packet, and ran.
The whole way, I was thinking to myself whether I had just lost a lot of money.”
“Saw this video on the internet…and I looked it up on AI search on Weibo: 19th of February, 2026, Guangdong, Shishi Village, during the Mazu parade, a wealthy businessman used a boy to replace the traditionally selected girl vessel and caused the palaquin to not be able to be lifted and the dice to return a result of “no” eight time and other signs of the Goddess’s refusal. In the end, it turned into a scandal where the forced the girl to save the event. This has pushed capital interfering with folk beliefs to a peak of public discourse.
Comments say, “I heard a Fujian person say that they’ve never heard of anyone being possessed by Mazu. Mazu is Mazu.
“Does this stuff actually work?”
“We should pass down good cultural traditions, not this kind of fake worship self-delusion.”
“Put in the wrong number when I transferred money to my MIL, what do.
My finger shook and I ended up typing one extra zero while making a transfer to my MIL, what do I do? I was giving her money for helping me buy stuff last time, but I accidentally added one too many zeros to the end. She just accepted the transfer and didn’t ask about it, and I’m too embarrassed to ask for the extra back. This is so awkward. How do I get it back, sisters? Please help.”
[OP transferred 1000RMB to her MIL.]
Comments say, “1000RMB isn’t that much extra, just make your husband give you 900RMB.”
“If you can’t even afford 1000RMB, why are you married?”
“Look how stingy you are over one grand.”

“I saw a story a while ago, supposedly China’s largest mass murder case—Sha’anxi Family Murder.
In a small village in Sha’anxi, Dong Zhen (false name) was an honest Xibei man who was bullied from childhood. He hid as much as he could, and avoided getting into conflicts with people. He didn’t have any friends in the village, didn’t communicate with anyone long-term, and slowly grew to be insecure and introverted.
In 1991, there was a major drought in Sha’anxi, all the crops withered and died and there was no harvest. The same year, his mother got sick. Because he didn’t have money to get her treatment, his mother passed away.
And then in 1992, his fellow villager Guo Baocai forcefully took three people’s houses in order to build his own mansion, including Dong Zhen’s house. The difference is, he gave the other two people money for their house and thought Dong Zhen was such a pathetic loser that he didn’t give him a cent.
Dong’s dad was angry and went over to argue and was beaten severely. The father lost his house, so he had to live in his field in a shack. The shack wasn’t windproof, plus Dong’s dad was injured, so his health took a decline. That winter, Dong’s dad died too.
Dong Zhen has been crushed by life at every turn, but he still hadn’t lost his reason yet. He still wanted to get justice through legitimate means.
He quickly buried his father and gathered the determination to write letters and protest, but the county chief was Guo Baocai’s uncle, so Guo Baocai quickly heard about his attempt to protest and became furious. While Dong Zhen wasn’t at home, Guo Baocai took people to tear apart Dong Zhen’s straw hut and took Dong’s fields. And even worse, perhaps to warn Dong Zhen, he even desecrated the Dong ancestral grave.
Dong Zhen came back to see this and fought with his life to stop them, but he was beaten up by Guo Baocai and his underlings and was forced to watch his ancestral grave be desecrated and get humiliated by Guo Baocai before he left.
Dong Zhen fell into despair, and hatred awoke in his heart.
By May, the Guo family was planning a celebration. The village mayor, the country chief were all going to be there. Their yard was crowded and lively, and everyone was happily drinking in the courtyard.
Around 9PM at night, Guo’s house was still brightly lit, and suddenly, a knock came at the door. Guo’s cousin got up drunkily to answer, and it was Dong Zhen. Guo Baocai’s cousin was just going to start swearing when Dong Zhen raised his knife and slashed him down to the ground. Everyone screamed and tried to run, while Dong came straight at Guo Baocai with his knife. Before Guo Baocai could react, he was cut down too, and screams began echoing in the yard.
That night, Dong Zhen murdered Guo’s entire family of 15 and peacefully embraced his death.”
Comments say, “You should delete the “cruel” description and write in the final line that Dong Zhen died a hero’s death.”
“Don’t bully honest people. Both God and the Devil exist in the hearts of honest people.”
“He’s a true man!”
