01/23/24 - My personal example, a unit earns me 60K a year, and I spent 5 million RMB on it.
More details came out about the Google employee wife murder case, and a blogger makes a compilation of all the latest reveals:
“The reason the Google guy wanted to kill his wife finally came out:
Why would a 34-year-old Google AI engineer want to murder his 32-year-old wife? Because he was laid off? Or some other reason? According to Chinese people in their community with reliable inside information:
They both graduated from Qinghua University’s Digital Information Technology major, and did their Master’s Degree at University of California, San Diego campus. They were both employed at Google, and neither of them were laid off.
Our male protagonist did not attempt to commit suicide after murdering his wife. He raised his hands over his head and knelt down and accepted being arrested by the police. The victim fought back very hard before she died, causing injuries that he had to go to the hospital for.
The motive for the murder is that the victim was very beautiful, fit, smart, and extroverted. Her divorced 40-year-old Asian boss was really into her. After being strongly pursued by her boss, she brought up wanting a divorce so she could marry her boss instead. Her husband refused to accept this violently, and when he couldn’t save his marriage, he decided to destroy her instead.
They live in an area were average housing costs 3 million USD. Software engineers make about 300K a year on average at Google. Between the two of them, they probably made about 300-400K a year after taxes, since America has pretty high income tax.”
“Imagine, you borrowed 600K USD from your family to buy a house, and there’s still a 1.5 million USD mortgage on it that you ned to pay back, and your wife is from a poor family and can’t help out and she has to send her pay back to China to help her parents pay back her debts. She was facing being laid off at Amazon where she worked, so you pulled your connections to get her a job at Google. Everything is finally setting down, and just as you’re fantasising about the American Dream, your wife tells you, “I want a divorce.” And you have to split everything you’ve worked for with her. How would you feel?”
Comments say, “The police haven’t even released the results of their investigation, and “inside information” is already flying all over the internet. The victim is a woman, so it must be her fault. [rolls eyes emoji]”
“So the rumours have started?”
“Weibo’s solved another case! Just as expected, it’s always the woman’s fault.”
“Why do I feel like Shanghai isn’t as prosperous as everyone makes it out to be?
Yang Chaoyue [Chinese idol] once said, that the Shanghai you see when you’re hauling bag after bag of luggage off of a train is completely different from the Shanghai you see when you’re rolling a suitcase out of the international airport.
When you make 5K a month, you’ll find that although there are a lot of restaurants in Shanghai, it’s not that different from what’s available in your small town home. It’s all the same brands, the same dishes.
When you make 50K a month, you’ll find that Shanghai has all the exotic foods around the world, and it has such a diverse cuisine. It’s truely an international city.
When you make 500K a month, you’ll finally figure out that Shanghai is the jewel in China’s cuisine crown. There’s Michelin Star restaurants all over the place, where a single meal costs what an average person makes in a month. That’s when you finally realise, Shanghai is just as prosperous as people make it out to be.”
Comments say, “All you ever talk about is food and what happens between men and women.”
“It’s the same everywhere you go, though.”
“And then the Michelin Star Chinese restaurant closed down.”
“There’s tons of expensive restaurants in Shanghai, but there’s still not any really authentic western food places.”
“Have you discovered? DILs these days are always giving the cold shoulder to their MILs. They don’t live together and never contact each other. They don’t even add their MIL to their wechat. They’re police enough, but that’s all. If anything comes up, they go to their husband, and have their husband go talk to his mom. They’re just focused on themselves and their nuclear family. No matter what their MIL says, they can ignore it. They never try to kiss up to their MIL like the old days anymore. They’ve got no expectations, no hopes, and no responses. They do whatever they want, whatever makes them comfortable. They don’t even say “hi” sometimes. Have you seen this phenomenon in life?”
Comments say, “That’s how it should be to begin with. You’re nothing but strangers who technically became family because of a man. The best relationship is where you don’t bother each other and respect each other.”
“I’m just afraid that they’ll talk about new age women’s independence when it comes to working and making money, and then talk about Chinese traditions when it comes to the holidays and taking care of them.”
“Isn’t it great that there’s not nearly as much MIL conflicts, though?”
“Last year, February, there was a big earthquake in Turkey where there were almost 40,000 casualties, with over 10 million people’s lives being affected. A lot of countries donated money and resources, but only Japan decided to stand out by donating two tons of paper cranes, supposedly for “good luck”.
The Turkish embassy was furious, posting, “You’re doing nothing except causing a huge hassle sending paper cranes when people don’t have food and water!”
And this year, when Japan had an earthquake, Turkey donated tons of paper cranes back to Japan too.
And Japan refused to accept it, saying that what they need is food and money.
See, Japanese people know themselves that paper cranes are useless in an earthquake. And now they know what it’s like to have the whole world “caring” so much about them.
Turkey said, “You know how long I’ve been holding onto these paper cranes? I’ve just been waiting for an opportunity. I’m not trying to prove anything about how useful these paper cranes are. I just want to make the point that if someone gifts me something useless, I’ll make sure to return it to him.””
Comments say, “It only takes a few seconds to look up that Japan only promised to donate paper cranes to Turkey, and they got made fun of by their own people pretty hard. And now it’s turned into Japan actually donated paper cranes? I see we’re working hard on our story of the day here.”
“Is it really necessary to post baseless rumour mill news like this? Can’t you just link people to more documentaries?”
“An eye for an eye, lol.”
“Hahahaha, there’s actually people believing this shit.”
A tiktok video of a worker at a textile factory:
Comments say, “I don’t get it, why is the floor so wet?”
“I’ve done this job before, and this video is so obviously fake. It doesn’t matter how hot it is in the factory, you always cover your hair.”
“My mom used to work in a cloth factory too for well over a decade. Shitty work conditions, strict rules, hard labour, now she barely has any hearing left anymore.”
“Just saw a picture of a girl who got half of her hair shaven off, supposedly to prevent her from “dating early”. I can already imagine how funny her parents think all of this is. It reminds me of all those 26, 27-year-olds on tiktok who’s preparing for postgrad or their civil servant exam, who tell themselves every day, “The wise don’t fall in love. We’re building a beautiful China.” like they’re brainwashing themselves.
There’s nothing wrong with dating. Dating isn’t going to hurt anything. If you started dating, there’ll be plenty of others woh can build China.
And also, if you ever say you want to make money, everyone will accuse you of being greedy. “Wanting to make money” is a big sin to slam on someone. Like whenever Zhang Yingyi or Jiang Ge’s mom [victims of crimes] livestreams to sell products, there’s always a ton of people flaming them. Even if they’ve never experienced losing their daughter and just wanted to make some money livestreaming, what’s wrong with that? It’s like people enjoy watching other people suffer.
Once you grow up, you need to face your desires: materialism, lust, desire for love. Or you’ll turn into them once you’re old.”
Comments say, “And as soon as she makes it, they’ll be pressuring her to get married, and telling her every day about this or that cousin of hers that already has two kids. You can’t fall in love, but you can have babies.”
“Everyone who says, “The wise don’t fall in love. We’re building a beautiful China.” I immediately block and delete.”
“These people are so weird. They’re always working so hard, saying that they’re escaping the fate of having to marry someone. Like, lol, you can’t even decide for yourself whether you’re going to marry or not. What can you hope to escape from?”
“Rent is too low. That’s why real estate prices keep falling.
For example, a landlord complains that his house has fallen from 3 million at the beginning of 2023 to just 2 million now, and there’s still nobody interested in buying. He thinks there’s something wrong with his development.
But actually, all he gets in rent out of this house is just 40K RMB a year. Back when it was worth 3 million, that’s just a 1.3% return per year. Now that it’s only 2 million, the return rate is still only 2% a year.
Interest rates on mortgages are at least 4% now, and if you get a certified deposit for three years, that’s at least 3% interest on your money.
In this situation, you can’t really ask buyers who have two million on hand to buy a house that only gives 2% returns every year.
But if you lower the price on this house a little, to maybe 1.2 million, then rent might still be 40K, but at least you’ll get 3% returns every year. That’s at least holding even with certified deposits. Then this house will sell for sure.”
Comments say, “So…raise rent?”
“My personal example, a unit earns me 60K a year, and I spent 5 million RMB on it. Also in Shenzhen.”
“From the point of view of pure economics, most of our housing is completely disproportionate when it comes to rent/purchase prices. It’s completely divorced from market economics. Even now, when housing prices have fallen by half almost, you’re still better off renting.”
“Now that Sinovac’s stopped producing their covid vaccines, we can look back on this post:
Since opening up, according to official government statistics, only 5.6 million people in China have never gotten a covid vaccines (if you ignore the couple hundred thousand people who has a condition that prevents them from getting it). The only people who truly held out against the vaccine is only 0.4% of the population. Even globally, they’re unicorns. This extreme minority of 0.4% are probably the only truly woke people in China. They’re the minority among minorities. In addition to having strong wills and extraordinary wisdom, they need a certain level of common sense when it comes to history and the ability to see through evil.
Think about it, how much pressure did these 5 million people have to put up with? How much loneliness and contempt did they suffer? Not only was getting a vaccine tied with keeping your job or getting your bonus, it’s been tied in with your family and friendships too. But they got through it all.
I think, if I met them in real life, I’d be friends with them. Of course, I’m one of the 5 million who never got a vaccine. I admit, I never listened to the government’s call to action. What is a call to action? It’s not a requirement. It’s not mandatory. The choice is still mine. And it’s a sign of independent thinking that I don’t follow trends, I don’t hoard medicine, I just follow natural law. I don’t waste public resources, I don’t make money off of disasters. If God really wants to take me now, I’m okay with that. Of course, this is just my personal opinion. I don’t particularly care if other people understand.
Famous Chen Yinque said back in Nationalist China days, “Free people’s personalities, make their thoughts independent. Independence is pride, and freedom is soul.”
Comments say, “Me and my whole family, 10 people in total, put up with all the bombardments and never got a shot.”
“I didn’t get one either, but I couldn’t talk my wife and kids into not getting one.”
“I never let my kids get any, but all the adults in my family had to get shots.”
