01/17/24 - I’ve never heard of anyone peeing the bed because they’re drunk!
“The only girl I know who’s kept up with piano and played it for almost seven years has given up now. This girl’s family is truly self-sabotaging fake middle-class.
Her parents were both programmers at an IT company, makes pretty decent income for their area. When she turned 3, her mom had a son. Thankfully, both sides’ family are local and take turns helping with the kids, so it wasn’t soo bad. Finally, her brother’s at the age where he can start going to school too, and her mom declares out of nowhere that she’s going to quit her job, so she can, “spend more time with her kids.”
At the time, I was baffled. Like, when the babies actually needed round-the-clock care, she was working. Now that they’re both in school and you’re finally free, she wants to come home? Can they even survive on just 10K a month from her husband?
When her mom quit, she bought a piano for her daughter, and started her piano career. Supposedly, they’re learning under a really famous teacher. Even at the beginner stage, each lesson was 300 RMB. To save money, they always took the bus to the teacher’s place to learn—but how much money is that really gonna save?
They practice piano for 2 hours minimum every day at home. If a competition is coming up, then it’s 3 hours minimum, no maximum. What kid has that much time when they’re also going to primary school? So, so long as she doesn’t have core lessons like Chinese, English, and Maths, her mom takes her out of school for the whole afternoon just to practice piano.
This tiny little girl almost never came out and played. She was wearing glasses in first grade, and she’s almost got 20/400 eyesight in third grade. She’s thin like a beansprout. She’s in sixth grade now, and she’s not even as tall as her third grade brother. I often take walks around the community in the evenings, and her family lives on a lower floor, so whenever I walk by, I can always hear piano music from her place.
Now that she’s in sixth grade, her grades have dropped from middle of the class to middle-bottom of the class. And although her dad never got laid off, he did get a pay cut. And at the same time, her famous piano teacher is hinting that he’s going to raise his prices, and having her sign up for all kinds of competitions. These competitions usually have a price, but they’re almost all out of state, and it costs several hundred just to sign up. And that’s nothing compared to the plane tickets, hotel, and food costs. Each competition takes at least 5000 RMB to participate in.
Now that she’s going into middle school, her family’s finally given up on their years of “piano culture”. After all, their wallet and school grades are in tatters by now.”
Comments say, “If even one parent has any idea how society works, they’d understand that kids only have time for extracurriculars in primary school. Once they’re in middle school, they have to give up on all of that. Piano? That’s fucking insane. Go sign up for some kind of physical activity, or arts and crafts, something that trains attention and focus.”
“If she’d learned art, she could’ve gone into design work, or game art. What can piano do? Nothing. There’s no employment opportunities there.”
“A famous teacher in Hangzhou charges 700 RMB per lesson.”
A tiktok video of a man getting into an elevator and repeatedly kicking the elevator buttons until the whole thing falls off:
Comments say, “Seems like something a red pill would do.”
“For such a useless person, he sure has a big temper.”
“There’s something wrong with him for sure.”
Lately, bride price has been rising all over the country, and the number of cases involving bride price has skyrocketed. In order to better process cases involving bride price conflict and balance every party’s rights, the Supreme Court has published an explanation for how they go about ruling on bride price cases, explaining what the law considers to be a bride price, when it would be returned, and when a case would be heard, etc, etc.
A summary of the explanation is basically:
Using marriage as a justification to demand money is explicitly forbidden, and if the other party sues for their money to be returned, the courts should rule in their favour.
Small amounts of money given on holidays or birthdays and daily expenses during dating won’t be returned when divorcing.
Parents of the parties involved can sue for bride price to be returned too.
How much bride price is returned is based on how long you lived together, including time you spent living together before you ever got married.
Comments say, “What about dowries then?”
“If you don’t get married, you’ll never have to bother with any of this. I consider my wedding gifts to all my friends to be my staying single fee.”
“It’s fine. It’s a blessing that all the men in my village can’t find wives, and their mail order brides from Vietnam all ran away.”
A tiktok video of, quote, “A primitive African tribe where girls are chatting with guys at a dating event. This is the last step to their courtship process. They all have a commonality, which is that the girls are covered in whip marks. This is their tribe’s form of courtship. Every time there’s a dating event, unmarried girls and boys attend, and almost all the couples in the tribe are formed this way. Courtship is very simple here. Girls will prepare switches beforehand, and if they like a guy at the dating event, they’ll kick their switch to the guy and encourage the guy to whip them. The harder the guy whips them, the more it means he likes them. In order to encourage guys to whip them, girls will dance or play the trumpet in front of guys. Most primitive tribes have more women than men, so often, several girls are chasing the same guy, so competition is very fierce. When a guy whips someone and holds their hand afterwards, it means the courtship was a success.”
Comments say, “There’s no shame in being poor. But there is shame in being poor and unambitious.”
“Just saw a video on tiktok, a girl from China, Liu Kaixin, met a boy on the streets of Syria, surviving by picking through trash. Because he’s not strong enough to protect himself, he’s often beaten up by the other trash pickers, and all he can do is cry about it. Even 70-year-old old men could come bully him.
At first, Liu Kaixin just wanted to give him some food. But after she got to know him, her charitable instincts really kicked in, and she wanted to sponsor this boy called Mohammad to go to school instead. From her point of view, he can only bring hope to his family by studying. So she started getting involved with his family.
She hired a tutor for him for 1-200 RMB per month, often brings food to his home, takes them out to restaurants, buys clothes for their kids. To keep Mohammad in school, she gives him 50 RMB a month to make up for the income he isn’t getting when he’s no longer picking through trash.
After she got to know his family, she started suggesting they put up a street stall and do some business. Once it gets some success, they can rent out a store space or something. It was all going well last November, but then, the family must’ve gotten incited by somebody or something, and started thinking Liu Kaixin should give them more money. Ever since December, I’ve felt like Mohammad’s dad isn’t as enthusiastic anymore.
By the end, when Liu Kaixin came over with breakfast for their family the day she was due to go back to China, they wouldn’t even open the door for her. It was their neighbour who came out and promised to deliver her money to Mohammad’s family.
Through all these videos, Liu Kaixin has been emphasising that it’s better to teach a man to fish than to give him fish. And I think she was doing the right thing too. That’s why she never just gave a whole bunch of money to this family. To lift someone out of poverty, you have to lift their spirits first. You can never satisfy the greed of humanity. A litre of rice makes friends, a gallon of rice makes enemies. That’s all wisdom passed down from our ancestors.
But the whole event’s soured on tiktok. Everyone’s arguing over this.
That this is a textbook example to good intentions paving the way to hell. That this is why normal people can’t do charity. If you don’t have the ability, you shouldn’t take on the responsibility. We need to learn how to do charity from Russia, just have a big dinner together and everyone walks away happy. That humans are greedier than a snake who tries to swallow an elephant.
When I saw what Liu Kaixin was trying to do, I predicted that there wouldn’t be a happy ending. I just didn’t expect it to come so soon.
If you don’t understand the fundamental evil of human nature, you can never really do charity. This is where I have to say, the CCP is so great! They’ve lifted so many people out of poverty! I hope someone will put a book together of all the valuable experience they’ve gained. That is a treasure all on its own for other poverty-stricken countries to learn from.
PS: I also want to say that some people really aren’t suited to studying. Like Mohammad just didn’t have a good enough foundation. He’s already lost his chance. If she really had to sponsor a kid from that family to study, she would’ve been better off sponsoring one of Mohammad’s sisters. That little girl was smart and cunning and pretty and knew Chinese. Once she’s done with school, she can go into the import/export business in China and improve her whole family’s situation.
Liu Kaixin did not get her fame from Mohammad. She got it from her own kindness. People follow her for her kindness and her positive energy. A lot of people are attacking her because of Mohammad, that she only went viral because of him. What the hell kind of troll logic is that? There’s tons of starving boys and girls in Syria, why don’t you go film them and see who cares?
It’s hard to be a good person. Don’t get too soft-hearted, people! Not everyone would appreciate it, and not everyone knows right from wrong!”
Comments say, “Now you know how hard it was to lift people out of poverty in China, don’t you? The livestock you give them are sold for alcohol the next day, or killed for meat. The furniture and bed you make for them are sold for pennies on the dollar. And they’re always threatening social workers for money and stuff, or else they’d file a complaint and make sure the social workers can’t pass their KPI.”
“I remember seeing this girl’s videos, when she was just deciding on sponsoring him. I felt kind of pessimistic then, that she can help one person, but everyone around him might not want him to stand up.”
“This bed has been peed in by my shitfaced husband for three times now. I’ve washed it every time, and I’m just done now. Just let it stink. I don’t even want it anymore. Everyone is trying to tell me to just leave him alone, to stop bothering with him. But how could I? He’s the father to my two children. If something happened to him, what would I do?”
A compilation of comments beneath, “That’s horrifying. Imagine, people, that you’re sleeping peacefully through the night, when your husband comes home drunk and starts letting loose on your bed. You’re drifting in and out of sleep when you smell something weird, and you open your eyes and see him standing over you. Tell me that’s not a scene right out of a horror movie.”
“If you got drunk and peed the bed, would he wash them for you? Hahahaha live this shit life for the rest of your days. It’ll be over soon.”
“That’s disgusting! I’ve never heard of anyone peeing the bed because they’re drunk!”
“Holy shit you’re tolerant.”
“My dog doesn’t even pee on the bed.”
“My ex was this way too. Scared me into leaving right away. He’d drank a bunch too, and just suddenly got up in the middle of the night and started peeing in a random corner. Like, a ton of pee too. I left literally overnight. How can men like this exist?”
Comments say, “Even male celebrities who make their money on their image get caught peeing on corners all the time. It’s just how men are.”
“Lol, if you’re not gonna get a divorce, then shut the fuck up, or he might pee in your mouth next time.”
“This is the early signs of a murderer.”
“The western capitalist masters are panicking and banning their citizens living in China en masse, because all the videos they’re posting is ruining their masters’ efforts at brainwashing. You can see tons of videos on Bilibili [Chinese youtube] of western uploaders praising China for its infrastructure and high-speed rail. China’s renown is rising by the day. We’ve opened up tourism visa-free to a bunch of western countries. They can ban us from coming over, but they can’t stop their own people from coming. Let them see what a true superpower looks like.
Just look at Germany. You’re considered high income if you make more than 5500 Euros a month. Median income is just 3000 Euros, about 20K RMB. But their food, housing, transportation, and energy prices are all several times that of China’s. If you’re going by actual purchasing power, it’s only equivalent to maybe 10K RMB.”
Comments say, “Ohhh, so that’s what it means to unilaterally open up visa-free tourism. I get it now. China is more and more confident.”
A tiktok video of a cosplayer dressed up like Daji has been working at tourist spots in Henan to draw more visitors. She just got reported for “inappropriate conduct with visitors” and released a video justifying that she only cuddles up to girls and keeps her distance from men.
Comments say, “Of course! She only cuddles up to girls and won’t let me grope her! Of course that’s gonna make me upset [Doge]”
“I don’t see the problem. She’s very distant with men and only interacts with female visitors. I imagined myself there, and if such a beauty was willing to cuddle up to me, I would die of happiness.”
“What’s important is how the people she’s interacting with feels, right? If they don’t mind, then what right does anyone have to file complaints?”
