04/27/24 - After a day of work, when you get home, you don’t even have any room to hang yourself.
The takes on Xu Bo’s case continues, “I think a lot of Xu Bo’s been doing is just burying landmines for himself.
He’s made a lot of kids with a lot of women, they’re swarming around his house, but he can’t provide these children with any love. He just throws money at the problem. And most women who want to walk this path don’t really love kids. Most likely, they’ll raise the kid if the dad gives them money, and abandon them if not. The kids might have plenty of money, but what about love?
And if Xu Bo ever ran out of money, what kind of adults would these kids grow up to be? This is a landmine.
If Xu Bo stays rich, his kids are going to grow up, and he’s not going to stay young. And these kids have been raised rich their whole lives, without any skills at creating wealth, so their only option is to split their father’s estate, and end up fighting each other to the death over inheritance.
I think whether Xu Bo has money or not, he’s not going to have a comfy end of life. He didn’t learn enough history. He got arrogant. He lacks basic respect for human nature, fate, and the heavens.”
Comments say, “You haven’t grasped his logic. He doesn’t care about love. All of his kids are just tools in his eyes. They’re sets of game data. Anyone who loses, he’ll just abandon, forget that account. Only the true geniuses have a chance at inheriting his estate. Why else would he get so many surrogates overseas? It’s to take advantage of the loopholes in China and America’s laws, to get surrogates in America and abuse kids in China.”
“He’s just playing the statistics game. You have 100 kids, and one or two of them are bound to be exceptional. He gives his estate to the best kids, and all the other kids are just byproduct. He doesn’t have to care about them.”
“He says he’s giving all of his money to the crown prince.”
“Oh my god, American politicians are saying that these university protests were sparked by China: after mass protests broke out in universities across America, just as we expected, American politicians started trying to make China the scapegoat. When asked whether he has any proof, he went silent for 3 seconds.
Back when Hong Kong hoodlums were smashing windows and robbing stores, Americans called it peaceful democracy. They wouldn’t allow any policing. Now, American university students are just sitting in quiet protest, and they’re being arrested and beaten. The tyranny of the Jewish ruling class in America is naked, and they’re treating everyone like retards when they throw the blame on China.
Also, has Chinese media been taken over by Americans or something? Why is everyone silent instead of covering this shocking news 24/7? Why are we all focused on a bunch of pointless tabloids instead?”
Comments say, “A lot of Chinese media are funded by westerners. They’re very smart and cooperative about protecting their masters.”
“I hope such beautiful scenes continue to blossom everywhere in America.”
“Most journalists in China have their hearts in the west.”
A compilation of comments underneath a video about a tiny closet being rented out as an apartment in Shanghai:
“After a day of work, when you get home, you don’t even have any room to hang yourself.”
“I wouldn’t even search this room in a video game.”
“It took me a month to realise the unit I was renting came with a toilet.”
“You might as well get a job as night shift security. It’s an extra source of income and you’ve got somewhere to sleep.”
“Your house may be small, but you’ve got everything you need in it.”
“Live here a month and you’ll write 30 suicide notes.”
“This is where I used to live for 1500 RMB a month…what do you guys think?”
“The only difference between this and prison is a hot water heater.”
“I don’t think this is funny, because I lived in a unit just like this in Shanghai for 1500 RMB a month.”
“This is even better. I just saw it in my friend circle. 1500 RMB in downtown Shanghai.”
“In small town Yunnan, 600 RMB a month, 3 bedroom 2 bath. Local average income is 4K-5K a month. I’m so happy.”
“If you rent this place, you’ll never want to stop working.”
“That AC’s gotta be as powerful as a refrigerator.”
“Why does America hate tiktok so much that they want to forcibly purchase it? I just opened up tiktok, and with just a couple of keywords, you can see a ton of photos of American student protests.”
Comments say, “What about X?” [OP replies, “You have to search individual accounts and you can find some.]
“America has a Great Firewall. American people don’t have the right to freedom of press XD”
“Because America’s scared everyone will see the truth.”
“This is the worst tragedy I’ve ever read.
Protag is a cold-blooded assassin. Never failed a mission in 14 years of her career. Never went soft for a target once.
One day, she’s on a mission and killed her target’s whole family.
Just as her target was dying, she pointed at the protag and cursed that she’d lose her true love.
The protag scoffs and doesn’t think anything of it, because how can you lose something you’ve never had?
And the next day. She finds out that all of her money is gone!!!”
Comments say, “Holy shit. People with bad hearts might have a heart attack right then and there.”
“That’s such a tragedy! Without love, people will still live, but without money, people will starve!”
“This isn’t a tragedy anymore. This is now a horror story.”
A blogger posts a screenshot of a video, where the captions read, “Many middle schools require students to “voluntarily” give up on their high school entrance exam. Teacher reveal that “exam fail rates are tied with their promotion and pension”. And the blogger writes, “Now I finally know why all my teachers were trying to talk me into not taking the high school entrance exam.”
Comments say, “What the fuck. How many lives did you ruin for the sake of your school’s reputation and your pension? Huh? Say something!”
“I knew at the time, but it was in high school. A couple of people from the bottom of my class got talked into going to technical school instead.”
“At the time, my homeroom teacher called me to her office several times telling me to go to a technical school instead, since I won’t make it into high school anyways. And even if I did, I couldn’t afford university, so it’s pointless either way.”
A blogger posts screenshots of a couple of comments regarding the Xu Bo case, “If I was Tang, I’d help the billionaire manage his household, manage all his cute kids, getting called mom by a dozen babies. I don’t even know how happy and satisfied I’d be. What else would I want? Do you know how many people would come after you if you’re a weak little girl with a ton of gold? You’d have to think twice just for the sake of your life, right?”
And, “Without the love and care of their moms, these kids are likely to develop extreme personalities, just like their dad. I feel bad for Xu Bo, really, because nobody really loves or trusts him, and he doesn’t really trust anyone. He finally met a decent girl, and he still couldn’t help but continue to test her, probe her. Any normal woman would’ve been eliminated a long time ago. I feel Xu Bo’s a really pitiful person.”
And the blogger writes, “Saw a lot of comments who seem to think that Tang was “ungrateful”, “doesn’t know how to hold onto fortune”, and that “Xu Bo’s so sad”. I don’t know what they’re trying to do, apply for the position?
For Tang to run away so resolutely, not even thinking about making herself Dowager Empress after Xu Bo passes away and taking all of his money, abandoning even her own biological children, means that things are beyond what she can bear for another second. She doesn’t want to keep acting until the show is over. She doesn’t want his estate. She knows there’s no point in scheming with a tiger.”
Comments say, “Applying for the position lol you make me laugh.”
“I think things must be beyond what she can take too, but is Xu going to just let her go? I don’t think a psycho like Xu could just accept Tang living the rest of her life happily.”
“She really loves kids that much? To the point of fantasising about being surrounded by a dozen babies??”
Yet another take on Xu Bo, “I gotta say some sombre words here, “What’s wrong with thinking, “I can have any kind of woman I want once I’m rich!”?”
Xu Bo’s case is a bit extreme. Normal people aren’t like him. If you’re a normal person, then being rich will increase your competitiveness when it comes to finding a partner. But if you are thinking to yourself, “I can have any kind of woman I want once I’m rich,” I can assure you that you definitely can not.
I’ve talked about the trouble my dad ran into trying to solve my grandparents’ healthcare problem, and my point of view is that you can’t get through life by just throwing money at everything. You’ve got to use your street smarts. Money can solve problems, but if your only solution to everything is to throw money at it, then you’ll end up spending a lot more money than you are capable of making.
Like, when it comes to healthcare, you can say, “What problems can’t money solve?” If you can’t hire a caretaker for 5000, then offer 10,000. If you can’t hire a caretaker for 10,000, then offer 20,000. It’s not that hard.
But the problem is, normal people don’t have that much money, but they still have to solve their problems, so they have to get smart. So my dad shouldered on his family responsibility and helped some healthcare worker friends solve some problems, and build connections with them. Most people don’t have a ton of money, but are you going to give up on treatment just because you don’t have money?
If you’re comfortable blaming everything on, “None of this would be a problem if I had money,” then you won’t be able to solve anything at all. Anyone saying this isn’t actually going to go out there and make enough money to solve their problems. They’re just looking for a way to justify avoiding what they should be doing, avoiding coming up with a solution to the problem that doesn’t involve money.
When it comes to relationships, I’ve happened upon a Zhi Hu question before, “If I make 10 million a year, can I date a 211 uni student?” The unspoken question was, “You girls from elite schools are snooty, aren’t you? But if I was super rich, you’d jump at me, wouldn’t you?”
And the answer is, “Of course you can find someone to date.” You might not be able to date all women, but with how hard it is for young people to find employment these days, there’ll be somebody who’s willing to date you for the sake of money. Okay, now that there’s someone who’s willing, where’s your 10 million? Stop wasting everyone’s time if you don’t have the money.
In reality, the best way to date a girl from a 211 university is to study hard and get into a 211 university yourself, and just normally pursue a girl and have a uni romance. You can’t get into a 211 university? Dude, you’re already fantasising about having 10 million. Isn’t getting into a 211 university a lot easier than making 10 million a year?
I’ve seen girls from 211 universities who didn’t end up dating a guy from a similar elite university, and instead dated someone whose diploma isn’t as high as hers. It’s likely he has some other good qualities, like having a good job, or is very honest, or respects girls’ feelings, or maybe he’s just fun to hang out with.
This just circles back to my point: you’re giving up on what you should be doing (studying hard, treating people better, respecting other people’s feelings), and blaming everything on, “If only I had more money!” And that means even if you got lucky and came into a fortune, you’d have to spend far more money than you imagine.
Xu Bo’s throw hundreds of millions, hundreds of houses, and his girlfriend still left. How many hundreds of millions do you have? You can’t possibly say that he just didn’t have enough money, that his girlfriend wouldn’t have left if he’d given her billions? Like, okay, maybe she wouldn’t have left if he gave her 10 billion, but would Xu Bo ever be willing to do that?
I’ve got a more down to earth example. I know a girl who dated a rich guy recommended to her by a dating website. This young man made well over a million a year (I don’t know the specifics, since it’s not very polite to ask), with a decent diploma, okay looks. I thought he was a great catch. But when she came back, all she had to say about him was, “What a dumbass.”
Later on, her friends commented, “Look, the guy was great on paper, but you gotta think about how many dates he must’ve been on at this point. Why did all of them fall through?” I believe her original words were, “Chinese women are willing to put up with a lot. And yet, nobody was willing to put up with him despite his income.”
I don’t know the guy involved. But even if he was extreme, how extreme could he be? Even if he was narcissistic, how narcissistic could he be? He can’t possibly be as bad as Xu Bo. Even so, girls weren’t willing to put up with him.
So what can you do?
Are you gonna change how you treat people, or focus on making 4, 5 million a year?
What makes you think you can ever get there?”
Comments say, “If you only know how to find women by throwing money at them, you’ll only find the sort of women who love money, and yet that’s the type of woman you hate the most.”
“Every man saying this kind of shit has double standards. If you tell him, “Women can find whatever kind of man they want with enough money,” he’ll freak the fuck out. “That’s impossible! Men care about women’s age and bodies and looks! Men would never get together with women for money!” blah blah blah.”
“I think whatever your values are when it comes to dating, that’s what you’re going to find. If you think that all women are gold diggers and they’re only after money, then any honest girl wouldn’t want to date you. Even if they got close to you, you’d just doubt whether they were with you for your money. So in the end, only gold diggers (or con artists) will hang around you. It’s a self-fulfilling prophecy.”
Here in NYC, the protests are a shitshow. Some of these schools have ties with Isreal and take a bunch of IDF people. Some of them are nuts.
Then you've got the anti-semites who pretend to only be anti-zionists. A lot of them aren't even students, and some of them are nuts.
So regardless of whether or not the protesters on either side try to "behave", you've got extremist a-holes on both sides deliberately escalating things.
wern’t -> weren’t
